Is there an easy way to disarm the steering wheel air bag on P reg ?
I need to take my steering wheel orff :D

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, can't you jus disconnect the battery and take it off or does it have its own electrickery? :nenau

I've never touched one, honest :D
I'm presuming they need an electrical signal to trigger them :nenau Rick will know

I believe there is a capacitor in the airbag, disconnect batt, wait for cap to drain then remove. No idea how long to wait tho overnight should do it I reckon.

When I did Suz's car, the first then I did was turn the wheel so it was upside down, then I disconnected the battery for 20mins, then took the 3 covers off of the bottom, left and right side of the steering wheel. Through the bottom cover (now at the top of the wheel) you can unplug the 3 wires. Earth, Horn and airbag.

The thing is, hers is a 2001, so the might be slightly different, but the concept is the same.

Pete there is a yellow plug connector in the wheel hosing just separate this, it is a very special connector in that when open the two bag wires are shorted so stopping any accidental firing of the bag, watch my vid of bag going off, Rick

Took mine off a couple of weeks ago to get to the instrument panel.
I found the yellow connector that Rick has mentioned, it has a little snap lock thing on it.
I hate airbags, and the idea of having an explosive primed and ready inches from my face. Even my recent recall experience was really shabby with Westway. I'll never use them again.
I'm talking about the Patrol of course, but the connector Rick has spoken of sounds generic.

Begs the question though Pete, why do you need to remove the wheel? Rick

If your battery has been off for a few months Pete then the capacitor holding the charge will have dissipated a long time before now.

Whip it orf :thumbs

I appear to have bought the old girl a bit of bling :D
Not using seat belts anyway so as the air bag light was flashing years ago , it's coming out

New thread coming up, Black pearl ejector seat conversion :sly

Probably remote controlled as well because he knows I'm going to ask him for a drive in Wales and I'm sure he's still not forgiven me from chucking those grapes at him through the sun roof :lol

I thought fruit was good for you? 1 of your 5aday and all that :naughty
