Noticed on mine (MK4 T2) that water can easily get past the indicator in the wing when fording which would end up at the air intake opening:doh unlike the earlier MK1&2's which had the wing coming around to the headlights:augie Yes I know a snorkel is the best answer but I don't have the funds for one yet & TBH not sure if i've got the guts to cut into a good wing just yet:eek: so has anyone made up a sort of blank to stop water going straight into the intake or add a rear facing pipe to it:rolleyes:

Can the standard air box be turned 180degrees so it does face back. Also I think they have water drain don't they from memory

water drain aint much good when the engine us sucking hard, Rick

The drain gland is still in but as you've said Rick it's not much help when the engine is gulping in air hard. Not really had a close look to see if I could mount anything like an old inner tube etc as a sort of shield but when I had to remove the indicator to drill a small drain hole in it (was misting up like mad due to a bad seal on the unit) I was shocked at how exposed the intake was on the later models & don't think i'm as keen to dunk the whole front end into a ford as I often did with my last one

All I did as a temp measure was to remove the tube to the headlamp, so just the air box itself left...

I did a pay n play day like this too... Lack of bumper caused mud to get at th filter though :doh
