Hi All,
Done a fuel filter change yesterday and noticed that after unscrewing the filter it was only 2/3rds full with diesel, is this correct or does it suggest a problem. I can remember other topics discussing air being sucked into the filter via fuel lines or such like. I'm not convinced that my old girl is giving full power, could this have something to do with lack of?
When I undo the bleed vave to get rid of any water in the filter it sounds as if air is either going in or out, no water.
Any imput would as allways be appreciated.

look at terrences post wheres my fuel pump she has same problem hers is causing rough running though suspecting corroded fuel lines underneath as cheap atempt to fix

hi rick!
ive been having a similar problem intermitently for last 6 months ! still not got to bottom of it read posts air in fuel system, and where is fuel pump?

Thanks for the replys, i will follow up the threads, cheers.
But is the filter only being 2/3rds full on removal as it should be or should it be full to the neck, i would have thought so.

Hi Rick, if the fuel filter was so empty, you would experience the symptoms of air in fuel, ie "surging", engine possibly cutting out or even the engine appearing to rev to the limit without any throttle input.

From what i can recall of changing the fuel filter on my wagon, when it is renoved it didn't appear full, level of fuel was maybe an inch below the top of the filter. I'd assume that this is normal, yours sounds more extreme.

if you go to terrences post one immediate thing to exclude is the filler cap, replace yours as this this meant to vent, if it doesn't then it will cause poor running, loss of power, stalling, as it causes a negative pressure to build up, which you release when yout ake the filler cap off (or remove the fuel filter). terrence had similar symtpoms to yourself, so look at reasons that would mean fuel is finding it difficult to get to the filter, either damaged lines, faulty filler cap, maybe debris etc blocoking the fuel pick up from the tank.

Mmmm food for thought there, I will try and have a good root round soon as I can.
Thanks
