What benefit is there in removing it, ( Weight saving !) all's I would do is disconnect the belt from the air con pump and disconnect the plug at the back of the switch.

There is an environmental issue in draining the coolant liquid, if there is any left, and may have to be drained by a registered disposal place, ie somewhere that tops up air con.

If ever you come to sell the vehicle it may be worth more with air con, even though it's not working.

Just a thought, also removing the belt will only take a few minutes.
Job done.

cheers for that rustic
i left the belt off when i replaced the others when i did a service the other day i was thinking of weight saving but also thought if i remove the air con rad i would get better air flow through rad when towing caravan and also had an idea of using fan on intercooler
