Well thought I would put this up to show how you get ripped off, one of my hats is refrigeration engineer, and called to a walk in commercial fridge today as only going down to 8 C, checked pressures and it was low on gas, Oh no my bottle is empty, racking my brains on a Saturday pm as to where I can find gas, Halfords was suggested so off I went yes they had one 500g can £40 ffs, but it is non standard fitting, have you got adapter I ask? no was the reply, so back off home in the hope I could find some odds about, as it happens found a couple of hundred grams in two containers, so managed to do the job, but astounded at their rates £80 a kg, I can buy 13.5 kg for £90 = less than £7 kg, just thought I would let you know, Rick

I avoid them as much as I can. They've been in the business (of scanking people) for a good while now. If people weren't so LAZY & shopped around, they'd either reduce their prices or go bust.

Halfords or AKA Halfrauds

Never use them and never will, got a small car accessories shop near me that stocks most things and good prices.

We gave a Eurocarparts place near us, they are always offering discount codes, order on line and collect later, or get free home delivery.
Or armed with their price, go to your local supplier and get them to beat the price, but best to see what their first offer is, it might be considerably cheaper anyway :nenau
I usually negotiate 10-15 % discount on consumables.

Re Halfords, I understand that they used to give forces people big discounts, not sure if they still do, they won't give me the same, so I won't shop there, ( ie buy anything) unless it's on the surplus stock shelf.
When ever I do go into Halfords, midweek, I am often the only customer in there, the staff ask you if they can help you, but they really want to have a chat, as they are so bored.
The reason I go into Halfords, is.... the wife is usually in the shop next door lol...
Pity really, they have a large presence, but a small customer base, although they have a fitting service for basic items for people uncomfortable fitting wipers or bulbs. Mind you, there are that group of have a go DIYers, who can manage to fit a stop tail bulb 180 degrees out, or unable to seat a headlight bulb as it searches the skies rather than the road. :lol:lol

Can't think what it used to be called, A1 or something like that with the lazy t**t that never got out of his chair.

Before Hunt for Spares it was called Road & Rally. I'm not who the lazy t**t was. Carl used to run it & was always good at his job even when he was pi**ed off with the bosses trying to s**g him.

Maybe you went when Steve was on, he was a lazy git, but only there one day a week.
