I was driving from cold the other day only for the engine to back fire very loudly, I put it down to the engine being to cold to run on LPG.

I lifted the bonnet today on to discover that the air filter box that’s mounted on the inner n/s wing has blown its self to bits, (I have put a photo below)

What has caused it to do this i don’t know, but i am now looking for a replacement lid to the air breather box, Has the earlier petrol 2.4`s the same box lid?.

Difficult to tell from that photo but it looks similar to mine.

I also need a new one as mine has done the same thing a couple o times but the one that really killed it off was when the rotor arm came loose, that was like a shotgun going off inside the car, nevermind under the bonnet.

There should be a release valve somewhere in the system. Single point LPG systems are known for doing this and they usually build in a oneway valve, about 400mm dia aluminium, to releive most of the pressure, in the past I have destroyed the filter too, which is why I've never gone to a K&N or similar, i've posted the picture before but it's HERE

My M8's V8 Disco (sorry for swearing) does it when he runs the LPG system down to empty & now leaves the air box cover loose 8O but I would'nt recomend doing it
