There's a sort of ubend trap arrangement I seem to remember, that acts as a fail safe if you splash some wet on it. If you get water in the filter box it's got a one way ticket to your cylinders followed by some rather nasty hydro lock
Just do a snorkle :sly

Ah then you need to do the smooooth version :naughty
Take it up the inside , oo er missus, and scoop on the roof :D

Pics ?

I will get one of those Spanish safari ripoffs, as they are spot on apparently, just want to protect it best I can at moment

On the td version, where the air filter is in a vertical box, there is a rubber valve that lets any water drain out of the bottom.

But i'm not sure any water would get out if the engine is taking in lots of air, but it might help. It's the last chance saloon...:augie

I'm just thinking that big water splashes have potential to swamp the gap between inner and outer wing with water causing said pipe to draw in water. If I take this pipe off then the air filter housing would be protected from water splashes and only draw water if water filled the engine bay and went thru the grille and up the inner wings :nenau

Hi Stinka, when you say water splash, do you mean puddles or ford/river crossings.
I would have thought that Nissan designed the air intake to not allow water in during standard ish driving :nenau

No I'm talking about hitting large floods over a foot deep and fords up to 2 ft deep as there are a few close to me

thats more for condensation type moisture

If you drive slowly in to deep water, it won't go all over the place

You're defo more likely to suck in water from an open air box than from the std air intake up the front of the wing. Drive in deep water carefully keeping a nice bow wave OR get a bloody snorkle and have done:cool:

I managed 2 have mine up to the height of the bonnet! with no probs, if u can keep that side (left if its same as mine) higher, n that was with no mods :D
