Hi, newbie here
I've a 1994 Terrano II SWB TD which I've owned from 1996, it's been regularly service and well maintained, it's been a great car (until now), it's pulling to left on all cambers, it has had new shocks and springs, wheel alignment checked and OK, steering checked and OK, all wheels balanced, brakes checked and OK, all by a local garage who say that they can't find what is wrong with it (they seem trustworthy), I'm disabled and need a car of the size of a 4x4 to get in and out of, but I need to drive from the North East of Scotland to Devon very shortly and would be very grateful for any advice on what I should do next and if anyone thinks the car is dangerous. Not able to do the mechanical repairs myself due to disability.
Cheers

the bushes wear and when you take bush off you will find a sleave which will be worn through thus letting the rod move about .
i did mine last year and it cured the problem .
ALSO TRY SWAPPING WHEEL AS SOMETIMES ONE WILL PULL AS DID MINE .

Hi Darfash, welcome to the club, these vehicles are very reliable, I've had mine from new, worth keeping.
I too am watching another thread at the moment, re Bushings, I think mine might be worn at the front, as the vehicle has a tendancy to drift a little especially if there is a camber near to the white line, so I will be checking mine soon. Although it just passed an MOT.... maybe they can't check the wear !!!
From what you have had done, the bushes could be the cause, how many miles on the clock, mine has 83k and never had new bushes, could be due I guess.
Do you get any uneven tyre wear, inside edges on the front are one cause of wear in the bushes.
I guess other members will be along soon with other suggestions.
Best regards,
Rustic

Hi
Thanks all for the replies, will get the garage to look at the bushes, but think they would have already done that, by the way I do not get any uneven tyre wear, but will swap wheels around soon, a guy up the road said it could be the power steering going or one of the rear diffs, didn't think rear diffs would have this effect, but then I'm no mecahnic.

Thanks again for the replies, nice club

Quick thought, re rear diff.
The oil in these diffs is critical as it has a limited slip diff, and if the tyres have different tread depth then this will make the diff work harder.
There are lots of threads on the rear diff, but the diff has friction pads, and these wear and make the oil look thick and grey, so the oil needs changing every 20 k miles, if the diff was really bad then again after a few thousand miles after the first change.
The OIL MUST BE LSD gear oil. eg Coma Gear Oil, limited Slip LS80W-90 GL5 you will need 2.8 litres

First make sure rear tyres have same tread depth and same type.
The rear diff also plays up and on wet roundabouts especially the rear end can kick out as the diff doesn't slip, causing the back end to slide.
There are bushes on the rear as well and these do wear and cause similar problems.
Hope this helps,
best regards, Rustic

terrano compression bushes

hi paul
the bushes came from local nissan dealer known as COMPRESSION ROD BUSHES and the sleaves i just repaired by welding and grinding to shape .
dont forget to make new saucers for the donuts otherwise they will move up and down
