On the top of the pedel you have a sensor held on by 3 (I think) screws, you can turn it up or down to alter the tic over.
Will find my spare and take a pic to show you.

right i had a quick butchers at how to adjust the tick over on my maverick.
it looks like on the throttle linkage on the fuel injector pump (located on the off side of the engine) there is an adjuster.
this adjuster seems to have a locking nut on the cam of the throttle cable mount on the injection pump which needs to be released before adjusting the tick over speed.
once the nut is loose, you can then play with your tick over.
turn the adjusting screw clockwise to turn up the revs and anti- clockwise to decrease the revs.
