My truck idles at about 550rpm, really easy to stall, and makes it a nightmare towing, can't set off without revs when not towing, all in all, its a bit of a face loser as you stall regularly!

is there any way i can adjust the idle speed? i'd like to turn it up to 800-850rpm.

Its a 1997 Maverick 2.7 TD intercooler (round headlight version)

Thanks in advance.

If it is "fly by wire" (no throttle cable) then there really is no adjustment as such. The idle speed is set by the ECU.
First, simple check, MAF output voltage should be 1.8~2.0V at tickover and rise to around 4.0V > 3000 RPM.

i think it is fly by wire, not certain though . . .

I'm having serious problems with low down power and set off, once i get over 1200rpm its not a bother, but it idles very low and lumpy. have to rev before letting the clutch out or it will stall.

i took the maf out and cleaned it, it was cocked but it hasn't improved much, i disconnected the maf and it drives even worse, so the maf is working . . to a point.

its had a new fuel filter and air filter, i went to take out the banjo filter, but on getting in to it, the filter is not there, so its obviously been removed previously.

i'll check the voltages on the maf and see if they are in range . ..

thanks . .

There IS some small adjustment available on the throttle pedal itself. Take it off and you'll see the electrickery bit gets rotated by the pedals cable. There's a set screw in the end and has a blob of paint on it. This can get 50 maybe more, mine only ticks over at about 650:thumbs
