Right found 2 issues on my 1999 T2 by a garage today with running issues. They seems to think the actuator lengh is wrong as it does seem like its been adjusted at some point(not by me) which i can see what there on about due to old and new markings in the threaded bit so does anyone know what length its ment to be and also the small pipe on it as well is cracked to hell so that needs replcing,so is that a main agent parts only or can i get something else to do the job, also how is it best to test the actuator to see if thats working properly ????

when you say actuator what exactly do you mean?

The threaded bar on the turbo wastegate actuator.Just need to check the length of the threaded bar as i been told it may of been adjusted at some point

There should still be the paint marks on the bar & nut from the factory if these haven't been scraped off it'll be easy to adjust the rod so the marks line up again. As for the little pipe I replaced mine when I fitted my gauge & used some 5 or 6mm silicone pipe:augie

If it's in the garage why aren't they using a boost gauge to check it them selves. Pretty basic turbo setting procedure I'd have thought.

Due the fact of cost ill just scrap the bloody thing now as i cant be assed and cost to take it to a diesel specialist it bloody stupid just to get a diagnose of it £400.Off to look for something else now

I used 6mm internal diameter fuel pipe mate and its longer than the original.
The actuator rod length is adjustable to increase or decrease boost pressure on the turbo.
For the sake of 15 quid its worth fitting a boost gauge to see what vacuum your getting.

Seems a bit drastic scrappin it

If the tube is cracked you won't get any vacuum pressure on the turbo.
Its probably as simple as a £5 bit of tube

Just measured the thread on the rod of mine & it's 25-26mm of thread from the nut to where the thread runs out, i'd also replace the pipe because if it's leaking you won't get full boost preasure & it's not going to cost much at all

your problem will not be the waste gate, it only operates at high load and high pressure, what did the Nissan guys say? Rick

I did say from the start I suggest you save a few pennies and let one of us (not me :lol) take a look at it. You will probably find that with most terrano faults it is easy to fix.

I'm afraid I won't be of much use to you, I didn't even know what a waste gate actuator was (too many years of driving company cars with no involvement with maintainence!)
Can't even use my Terrano as a pattern to copy, it's 1500 miles away in Spain! Sorry Spook!
