A heads up to everyone who i misguidedly advised to try Academy Insurance!
This advice was based largely on price, they have let that down badly on customer service!

3 times i have asked for quotes on other vehicles they have taken so long to get back to me and passed me from branch to branch that I have bought insurance elsewhere!

Now the latest bombshell: I have a letter asking for £56.20 for am-ministration costs incurred due to an undisclosed claim.

I called and asked them if they could provide me with their evidence of said claim - apparently it was 3 years ago, non-fault, and no company paid out any money!

But i have to cal all my old insurers to prove this - guilty until proven innocent!

Now, even if it did occur, the claim in itself on my fully comp no claims bonus protected policy woudl not affect the premium!

But my failure to disclose has caused this cost, however this policy was taken out over the phone, by 'Stacey' the person who has sent the letter - so even then it could be her mistake as much as mine!

so basically, i i get a claim form and write anyone's registration number on it who happens to drive past, that person will get a bill and will have to jump through hoops to disprove this!

now apparently they can reduce this to half price! So simple to discount a made up bill isn't it?

fuming

Apparently you are more likely to make a claim after you have made a no fault claim. Wifes car was parked in a car park and got nudged by an old bloke, the company put her premium up because it was more likely she would make another claim despite there being no cost to her insurance company and his company admitting liability.
Also having protected no claims doesn't mean your premium wont go up next year if you make a claim. Far from it, if you make a claim your premium will go up fault or not.

as said before it's a license to print money.

I had this happen to me with my last insurance company because i didn't disclose a claim that was never paid out so didn't think i had to disclose, it was for my vectra that was stolen, no courtesy car or nowt so didn't see y, but hey ho,sounds as if someone has claimed there own insurance for dinging your car?
as for quote i find it easier just to fone & wait on the fone for an answer.

i don't think i made that clear, the claim (which incidentally never happened) isn't the cause of the increase! My 'alleged' failure to disclose it is! And the money is the admin charge for sending me the letter to ask for it! So had i disclosed the claim that never occurred (from years ago) the premium woudl not have been affected! And (if said claim had occurred) the mistake could have been theirs and not mine, so 'benefit of the doubt' occurs to me!

It's an admin charge! The only extra admin they have incurred is sending me a letter asking for money!

the manager called me from home (on his new year break) promised to sort it out on Wednesday . . . I will let you know what happens!
