I'm pretty sure its the more or less standard Terrano 2.7 TDi, so cog driven.
The truck of course is a monocoque, not separate chassis like the Mav/T2, so rides a lot lower and has much less clearance underneath.
There are a few R3M owners on here who might tell you their experiences, but IMHO you'd be better off looking for a manual Maverick/Terrano to be honest.
As its a Jap import, your insurance will be loaded or difficult, some parts (not all) will be hard to get and its a 15 year old car with an auto box thats done over 100,000 miles.......the costs of rectification in the event of a fault would far outweight the value of the truck, and as quite a few people on here have discovered lately, they are prone to failure in their later years.
The simple fact is that, although they work, automatic boxes are not that suited to high torque diesels - even today a lot of manufacturers don't offer them as an option...
