I think they're getting it confused with the old hairdresser favourite, the Suzuki Vitara with the short wheelbase, high suspension, big fat tyres...

...hang on...

...short wheelbase?

...high suspension?

...big fat tyres?

...I'm sure I've see one of those around here somewhere.

Lol.

12k?
I know where I'm taking mine if I ever want to sell, especially as I now know that they're not very good off road... :(

I had one for 5 years & can honestly say it was the most under rated most reliable economical 36mpg most capable best 4x4 I have ever owned

Ooo yeah! They always looked good in silver.

:thumbs

Then you need some big tyres, 38's always looked good on 'em.

Some extra lights, suspension lift, that'd work well!

:thumb2

Especially if you fitted a Lokka, and then maybe work towards a really strong steering set up.

:augie

Well, you know what they say about experts.......ex is a has been, spert is a drip under pressure.......what a pile of c**p that film was.

They may be able to sell a mondeo , but please do not put them anywhere near a 4x4, not a clue......grrrrrrr ...:doh

Couldn't agree more...

My LWB Vitara did 240K miles in 3 years from new, and was the most reliable company car I have ever owned. It not only did the motorway miles, but towed superbly, and was great fun and very capable off road.

This is it at 2 weeks old

It the highest yearly mileage car in the company, but it spent less time in the garage than the other guys company cars, like the Citroen ZX's, Hyundi Coupe's, and Ford Probe (That actually spent more time dead than alive).

When it was 3 years old, I traded it in for a brand new Impreza Estate Sport, but that thing was so unreliable it was affecting my job, so after 9 months I went back to a diesel Vitara...

Whilst not wishing to commit heresy.......and while we are on a Suzuki theme.......anyone have any views (printable) on the Jimny/Samurai model......very popular out here as a compact 4x4. Had one for work many years ago, and it did surprisingly well off road.....:nenau

A mate had an SJ many years ago that spent a lot of its life on two wheels, but never rolled it. Another mate had a Frontera, that too spent a lot of time on two wheels. More a comment on my mates than the cars...
Apart from the roof off aspect, I'd rather have a Lada as a compact 4x4.

A very old video that is, the garage is at a place called Denholme near Bradford. For those in the know Simonites Landrover are just down the road from there.

Nice looking truck tho, guess mine looked like that once upon a time:doh

Pity the presenter was such a door handle tho.

If you are looking for a serious off roader I don't think you would be disappointed you can get pretty much anything you can think of to modify them & they are pretty good as standard.
Mate of mine had this with front & rear winches, also had front & rear arb air operated diff locks.

Drove a Jimny when in Spain, and loved it. The off roading was just dirt tracks, rather than mud, but it was a nice little run about.

The SJ and Samurai are great little cars, they are so light and nimble they don't need gadgets to get almost anywhere... I have had 3, one road going one, and two off road only ones. When Suz did manage to get our one properly stuck, it took a Landrover over half an hour to winch it's self to us, before it could pull us loose, and as long to get back... Once we were out, we drove back out again...

The only real observation is get the 1.3, as you run out of power before traction in the 1.0L

Thank you all for your replies.

I am not thinking of moving from the T2..........:thumb2

It was more in the way of forward thinking, when I have finally retired........:lol and need a smaller but still very practical machine...:thumb2
