So what's it worth?

Whatever the insurance company is prepared to pay out after only the smallest of collisions. That will be well under a grand, possibly a few hundred :doh

This vehicle is 20 years old, with unknown history.

Mine is nearly 18 years old, and pristine and I know all the history from new, but if mine has a slight bump, it would be written off.:doh
It doesn't matter how good a vehicle is... Every car has a book price, with the exception of so called classic cars.

So how long do I have to keep mine before it becomes a classic?
What happened to the free road tax for vehicles of a certain age?

Y60s do fetch good money esp the 4.2 diesel. A well spec'd one like this is easily in the 3k bracket, and ofcourse would cost you way more to do yourself. MOT failures get around 1000 - 1500 day in day out, usually
Mine is insured for an agreed value of 3000 and will go up again soon.
Specialist insurance is worth every penny.:thumbs
