Been running a 50/50 mix of Costco's finest veg & Sainsbury's finest Die sell for quite a few months now without any problems. I did try a 60/40 veg to Die sell for last month & noticed a slight misfire when cold so gone back to 50/50.

I was wondering what mix you get away with without any mods in the winter?

I'm gonna up the veg % come the warmer months & see how far I can go with the mix. Should be interesting.

I've never took much notice of what % I put in, It does run better the more veg it has in though, especially smooth on the motorway. Zippy656 runs his 100% all year round!! How many times you changed the fuel filter since you started putting veg in??, and how much you paying for 20ltrs, its gone up at my Costco in Leeds.

100% all year round without mods is impossible!!!!

Believe me I've been dabbling with veg since my Maverick and burnt through nearly 12,000 litres of the stuff to date.

I'm running a heat exchanger at the moment which warms the oil up to just under 50 degrees, which is a far cry from the 80 degrees advertised but maintains that temperature even down at -5 :thumb2

I've removed the normal filter setup and using a clear glass filter so I can see what's going on and I've removed the manual priming plunger from the equation as well as they are terrible.

At this stage I'm still only able to run 80-90% KTC Vegetable Oil with 10-20% Diesel at anything below 2 degrees, any higher ratio's than that and the truck holds back at the 50-60mph mark.

My new heated filter setup with electric pump and Eckes VW Oil Cooler acting as a heater for the fuel filter should sort that out though :naughty

Since the Costco oil has rocketed in price, and is now over £16, the last time we went a week or so ago, it was at £16-89, I am not sure the savings are worth the amount of effort it takes to buy it, transport it, store it, get it in the car, and then dispose of the container, especially when Costco's Diesel is only £1.10 a litre, so at the moment, I have dropped using the oil until the prices come back down

While it was at £13.39 for 20L, I could justify the savings better, but I found over the cold spell before Christmas I could only run about 20L veg to 50L diesel as the car was noticeably harder to start (like the glow plugs were not working, when I knew they were), and ran quite rough until she had warmed up, while in the summer I was fine with 40L veg to 30L diesel and have gone higher, a few times, but when I do, I always notice a bit of hesitancy when sitting around the 50-60mph. I think Mine is happiest at about 50% or lower.

Zac your infra red thermo is reading the rubber pipe temp, the fuel inside will be a lot hotter, also did you calibrate the IR, different surfaces give different readings for the same temperature, for instance If I am using mine to check in and out on a CH radiator I stick a bit of black tape on each pipe so I know I am getting more accurate readings, the difference between a bare copper pipe and a painted one can be quite significant, Rick

Another top tip courtesy of Rick :thumbs:clap

Ok. Nope not 100% all year. At moment 10diesel 20 oil.

Change fuel filter once a year now. I did every 6 months when first started on oil.

I have heat exchanger fitted but not plumbed in at moment was getting it into system, but they sorted now nd just not put it back run a lot better with it in thought but the tank can get very warm after a long trip

Just paid £14 for a 20 cubie. Booker has an accident in the stores...

i will put my 2penanth in,zac it looks like your fuel rubber pipe is starting to collapse so be aware.
i still use wvo all year.
i have posted befor but here goes.
i go to pump and put in to jerry can 11ltrs derv then add 5ltrs rug at the same time.even in - weather they start good.
i then mix that with my ready to use wvo at 75% added to jerry can mix 25%.
i have had no hesitation at all so i leave well alone.no fphe no stock plunger filter and an in line filter set so any crap sets at bottom and never seen water in my filter .
this i use on both t2 and both have a problem on mot gas meter as they rearly show any soot but pass with 0.2 ish on it.

I took that picture in April 2016 and still on the same fuel pipe, no issues and that gets hot veg day in day out. I had them off recently when I changed the filter and they are still going well.

It's going to be replaced soon anyway when the new filter goes in and I have about 10 meters spare in the boot now too :naughty

Panelbeater you don't have to worry about me, I'm a Veg Veteran :freak3:

The filter is ready for a change soon.

A 20 litre drum is currently £16.99 at Costco & Die sell is £122.7 which is the cheapest around here that I know.
I bought 80 litres which saves me just over £30.00 so worth the effort me thinks :D

When the weather warms up my savings will increase & the tax to the Government will decrease :naughty :naughty

Cheapest I've ever paid for a cubie of oil was £13.75 KTC :(

Those were the days......
