ok, so I have a few things to get done on my 4x4:

rear brake shoes - should be booke din next week
knocking noise to fix - no idea yet what it is
new rear tyres - this is my quesion..

any good places (very cheap) i can get a decent set of tyres from? the cheapest place i found is 4x4tyres.com, they have 4 kingpin remoulds for £185 delivered. They are 50/50 tyres, whihc is pretty much what i need so extra questions-although remoulds, are these any good grip wise? i want good on road performance, good off road? dos anyone know of any even cheaper places? apart from ebay, where i checked, same tyres are dearer....

clivvy, PM extreem hes the tyres man, had a few sets if i remmebr right, hes also just over the bridge..

Clivvy - try Sowden tyres.

As for remoulds half the 4x4s out there seem to be running on remoulds, between Cloway, Insa Turbo, Kingpin and a whole loa of other manufacturers. they don't have the same life as a new tyre but then they are half the price. I'd be gutted if I holed a new BFG whilst out laning having spent over £100 a corner but with Insa Turbo Dakars I can have a copy fo the BFG tread pattern without the cost.

runway enduro a/t's are what you want... if buying new

very very good on road

very good off road even down to 3-4mm tread

nice compound too

ive had 2 sets and never got stuck in the mud... unless ive been really silly

thanks guys, will take a look at your suggestions and see what prices turn up. Extreem, been told to PM you, have you got any tyres worth me buying??

well, unsure. i currently have 235 75r 15, which seem fine. I have priced up four Kingpins 50/50 tyres for £185 delivered at that spec.....reason i am unsure is i don tquite know whats best yet-i do know i need tyres that are very good on road and off, i will be doing mostly road driving, but definatly soem off road dring, say once or twic a month...i need good fuel economy, and off road i wont be doing anything too taxing that requires crazy mud tyres, just soemthing good!!

personally id get, if i was buying new

runway enduro's size 31 10.5 15's

that will give you lift as well as good tyres, great grip on the road and very capable off road... good mpg and low road noise

last price i had was 65.00 a boot. but worth every penny not remoulds either. but you will get better prices now

and they will fit standard rims

i got loads of standard alloys with good tyres on around 100.00 a set

also got my old chrome rims with runway enduro's 31 10.5 15 as i suggested but only a few months left in them bout 5-6mm big offset rims though. look really nice... but need cleaning 120.00 all 4

Enduros great as a road tyre; I defer to Extreme re offroad performance except side walls a bit thin as I found out to my cost last week!

Wifes truck has Forceum ATZ fitted, tread is a lot wider than the Enduro and they look more macho - plus they are not an expensive tyre....can't find them on the net but any good Welsh tyre fitter should know them LMAO!

a trip to wales may be in order- i want macho cheap tyres!
