good deal for somebody, recon it will make a grand plus at the end of the day but still very cheap IF? you can move them on, I will watch it, Rick

only 18hrs to go.... Wow 30 heads. £171 at the mo

yes but, I have been on here 3 plus years dealt personally with one cracked head, and as far as I can remember only heard of one other, so looks rather bleak me thinks, wonder what the weigh in scrap value would be?? I would not bid more than £200 Rick

That is actually very reassuring. Its one thing I love about these engines is the cooling system. All through the hot spell the fan didnt come on once or the temp gauge move at all from normal. I've had to many cars where I have had to have the head gasket done or scrap.

Worthless, they are just bare heads no valves

I've been told that these never go it's the valves that get damaged so unless you plan on weighing them in then it's a worthless purchase

Yes there completely worthless:naughty
As for scrap there worth about £150

don't milners sell the rest of the " bits " to go with them ?

I've just had a look and it doesn't seem like they do

They only list a bare cylinder head, same as the ones being sold on ebay

all you need to do is find a source of the other bits , and you could build a new engine !!!! :naughty

Thats only £12.30 each i would have bought them but not got anywhere to keep them and they had to be collected

OK if you have a lot of customers with cracked or warped heads you would need to sell at least 4 to see your money back, as I said of all the head gaskets we did here only one head was cracked and have only heard of one other on here, Rick

If that's the case, then any secondhand head would provide good service if you needed one, plenty of those around I guess.

I wonder if he tried to sell the heads in smaller batches, if he would have got a better price overall.

Actually you could have used them to make top gear type coffee tables, and sell them to members of our club.:augie

I recon that Ryan has bought them, to supplement his gear based table lamps.:nenau:lol:lol
:clap:clap:clap

What do they say...
Two heads are better than one.

that was a very good thought, many truck pistons got turned into ash trays with their toroidal chambers, Rick

I have a customer who made a table out of a rangie v8 block. Fantastic

I remember a book called " 101 uses for a dead cat"

I wonder if they have one for Land Rovers, if so only 100 to go.

101 uses for a dead Land Rover.
No 1 Engine Block for a coffee Table.
No 2 Oil slick to compete with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill
No 3 ...

:lol:lol

No 3... to block the inside lane of the M6 southbound motorway south of j 16 this evening causing 10 miles of square wheels.

An RAF owned Discovery towing an RAF exhibition trailer caught fire at the front end, front tyres burnt out too. Behind was an exhibition plane on a low loader HGV also on the hard shoulder, Police blocked the first lane.
I knew we should have taken the old road home...:doh

North bound also had a speed restriction and several miles of slow traffic, to give the drivers a chance to have a good look.

There didn't appear to be any injuries, thank goodness.

So it appears the RAF are relying on Land Rovers...:doh:doh:doh
