hi all
Whats the main defferences supperficially looking at the engines of a 2.7 and 3.0?
I have a 2.7 already and have bought another 2.7 however the new one is faster and more responsive. Could somebody have dropped a 3.0 engine into a 2.7 body?
I run my old 2.7 on veg oil so that would be a no no in a 3.0

I've driven a few 2.7's now and no 2 have ever felt the same. The 2.7's depending on age came shipped with either a Zexel Injector Pump or a Bosch Injector Pump.

I've found that the ones with the Bosch pumps are way way more responsive and a tad faster than the Zexel variety.

I've also driven Bosch ones that have felt different, suppose it's just how clogged up the mini filter is :nenau

The 3 litre is just in a different league, I hate my 2.7 now since driving my grandads new truck :doh

As said about the 2.7 and I've not driven the 3.0 yet! Also I think fixed Hubs sap power too. My old manual 2.7 with manual hubs really flew compared to my 05 plate but I think the 05 plate had a lot of problems. My remaining truck the auto still has power but I think the auto is not as quick off the mark. That said Briggie used to have a mistral with auto box and that went like mad and that wasn't intercooled.

I wouldn't have thought it an easy job, even if it is possible, to swap engines. Certainly not cost effective. When I bought mine I felt I was frowned upon :lol oh how times have changed :D

there we go thats the sort of answear im looking for...

If 1 of each were driving towards you, that'll be the way to determine which was what.

Apart from the 3ltr would pass first:lol:naughty

2.7 litre 4 cyl or 2.7 litre 5 cyl !!

I have to say despite the things I don't like about our Jeep the performance and economy are it's strong points for an engine that is the same cubic capacity as our old r3mR.

I guess that being common rail ups the power output but the sheer torque of the 5 cylinder engine especially at mid speeds is pretty good for a 12 year old vehicle. It's 163 hp with 295 lb ft of torque (400 NM). The later WK 3 litre V6 manages 215 bhp with 376 lb ft .
