  finally got round to fitting the springs that hb had made today   was quite easy to do 8O the hardest part was compressing the new springs so i could get them under the motor.not done the torsion bars on the front yet as it was getting dark and i had enough for today(been stripping the other one non stop for a week)gonna do them tommorrow and get some pictures done and posted.need some bigger tyres now to fill the gap in the arches

PS - if you remove the rear shocker bottom mounts you don't need to compress the springs.

did that but still wasn't enough so i had to dig out the spring compressors.all makes for good fun and games

Perhaps you need to disconnect to the ARB too as mine would just drop till the brake line stops it.

I gave up on multi storey carparks a long time ago as I kept catching my aerial on the gurders  then fitted a roof rack with spots on it so deff no go now plus with the spring well i'll find it in the normal car parks as it'll be the one above all the rest

Be great to see some before and after photos of your trucks, when there done.

Hey Sweety, I know of someone that took a load of light fittings out in a multi storey in Leeds with his aerial. Was quite a few years ago now but it must of been funny to see everything going into darkness behind him.

PS can't do it now with vandal grills on the lights

will post some pics when i get finished as i have to do the front end yet.took some last week of before the lift.will take some of after and get them uploaded.

well i had a look at cranking up the torsion bars today.need to turn them over as they are adjusted right up to there limit.might even take the ones from the dead one as there seems to be alot more thread left on them and the front end sits higher on that one than this one.doesn't look to big of a job but any pointers appreciated.

That has been my biggest fear that I will run out af adjustment  I would be interested in any ideas to over come this without having to strip the bars out

had a look at the ones on the 2.7 that i'm breaking and they have got about 40mm of adjustment left on the thread and the front sits alot higher than this one.think it might just be a case of swapping them for the ones off the 2.7. :? will let you know how i get on when i get started on it.

Its not a problem if you run out of thread, you will need to lower down all the way with the front supported and pop the clip off the end this will then allow you to remove the arm from the torsion bar and move around a spline or two on the bar giving you more adjustment.

Just a note elty001 that you may not be aware of, if you are changing torsion bars around they are left and right hand specific denoted by a L or R on the end of the bar.

was just going to turn them over as they do sag a bit.changing them over would be a last resort but i did notice in the manual that they are handed.thanks for your input toolbox.it looks staight forward enough(famous last words)the boss is off work friday so i am hoping the manager will let me do it in the workshop as we have very little work on at the moment.getting paid to do my own work the perks of working for a small company

That sounds better than stri[ing the whole lot off  think I better give my adjuster a really good soak in WD40 over the next few day as they are very rusty & better check that the Mav is still in the local breakers in case I break something

i thought mine would be a pain as they were quite rusty but it turned no problem until i ran out of thread. :( will re index them and see how it goes.

well ive finally finished the 2"lift. -dance- got the torsion bars cranked up to suit.i had to move the adjuster 4 splines on the torsion bar and this gave me loads more thread on the adjuster.from the floor to the bottom of the wheel arch on the front it measures 890mm.(any higher and it bounces around on the front too much)
from the floor to bottom of the rear wheel arch it measures 900mm.
have got 235/75/15 mt tyres(which now look lost)
will add some pics later if they have come out o.k
