2.8 SWB patrol questions

I am thinking of getting one of these (Y60 or Y61) for towing as their greater width appeals to me (and I like the boxy shape of the Y60). What sort of MPG can I expect and what should I look out for?

Please don't recommend a 3.0 as i wouldn't touch one with a barge pole :augie

are all the 2.8's Diesel and six cylinder?

to my knowledge yes, the 2.8 td replaced the 4.2 n/a.

pity they didnt just turbo the 4.2, toyota style.

there may be some 2.8 petrols in much old 160/260
guise, think cameramans might have been such.

30mpg at 70mph on motorway don't know about towing though,the 4.2 was turboed but not for europe,but you can buy the bits from aus to convert
