Last week I was over at Grimsby with a friend picking up a Discovery2 that had been breathed on by Gary at Td5alive. Gary has now branched out and has another company, alive tuning.

So purely in the interest of science, I had Gary read the engine management system and he took it away to work on. We had a long conversation about what my vehicle is used for and what improvements I would like to see.

Gary phoned yesterday. turned up this morning and tried a couple of versions of his software and settled on a mild tune.

Driving back to the office I have driven everything from country lanes to motorway to town centre traffic. To say I was pleased would be an understatement. unlike some tuning I have seen their is no smoke. I can drop down to 20mph in 5th and pull away smoothly. I have always liked my T2 van, but now I love it ! Anyone who does a lot of miles, this just makes the T2 so much more driveable. I am yet to tow anything yet, but imagine the extra torque will make a masive difference. I wont do the mpg calc for a couple of weeks till I get bored with the extra performance......

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Highly recommended

pull from 20mph in fifth!!!!! I bet that gets the transmission vibrating........I would like mine to pull away from 20mph in third without complaining..... regards bri

Oh me oh me can I have one please? I'm about to buy a tuneit ox so tell m qwik:sly
Does this software remap the existing ECU or is i a bolt on gizmo?

What every Terrano owner wants to know.........

Good Morning Everyone,

Gary just called me and we had a long talk. Normal price for a remap £395 + vat. For members of the Nissan 4x4 Owners Club a special price of £350 + vat has been agreed. I can't be more positive about it. I still have a big smile on my face !

Gary is very well respected in Land Rover circles, ask anyone who has had their td5 breathed on by td5alive. We were so impressed that we also brought his Disco2 Demonstrator. 0-60 sub 10 secs and 30mpg + overall.

Remap or Rechip?

Hi!

In the case of my Terrano2 with the Bosch engine managment system it was a simple remap. However in the case of early td5's it was remove the original chip, solder in new chip holder and replace with a reprogramable chip! I am just a happy customer, but I did a lot of research regarding td5's before we settled on Gary.

Hope that helps

Hmm, price is a bit of a shame as it puts it on a par (if not a bit more expensive) with powerbox-type technology, which of course you can unplug and move/sell when you swap trucks...

As far as I know this remap would only apply to OBD2 that is 2001? onwards. Before that would need an EPROM change as the ECU are not reprogramable

First Good run out !

Hi.
Had my first proper run out yesterday from Yorkshire to Kent. I can confirm drivability is much better as is overtaking performance. I Normally average just over 27mpg, at my fill up this morning I averaged just over 29mpg. My motorway speed is always just over 70mph. Before the car could have done with an extra gear, now it could do with two extra gears. Anyone know of an overdrive that will fit ..........

Have to say I am very pleased with the results and would recommend it to anyone, especially those who tow, the extra torque is brilliant. My gear changes are muched reduced.
