11 moths mot
5 months mot
new battery recent water pump. 2 keys

£1000 to any club members .

im interested, very much so. talk to me. how bad is the usual rust (forget the front arches, tell me about inner sills, floor pans, and seat belt mounts!). whats the mileage???

tell me details!

Clivvy where are you ? This has to be up your avenue :D

it IS up my avenue! I want the newer shape, but I need details such as mileage blah blah as I am off to see one tomorrow in Keighly for £1500 which looks a bit better but if Bobs is good I can cope with the rust for a £1000 car.:thumbs

I don't think mileage is a problem on these motors. But tin worm is. Rot can't be that bad if it's got 11mths mot

yup, I agree, im not too worried about mileage but if it was knocking over 170k id be a bit hmmm, but its got 135k which I am comfortable with as I don't do loads of miles. the tin worm will always be an issue for my budget, but this one sounds well looked after and im prepared to take it on (I don't expect it to NOT have rust or develop rust in my ownership) and with 11 months MOT to play with id be well happy as it gets me right through winter!

with all due respect clive , the M.O.T. isn't really worth the paper its printed on with respect to the longevity of the vehicle , it only says that on that day it was tested it complied with current M.O.T. standards , plus of course some testing stations aren't exactly compliant with the standards :augie

Yes Peter, which is why I will go look at the car. End of the day, generally the MOT most certainly IS worth the paper its written on. The MOT is a good gauge for anyone buying a used vehicle for the cars current and historical condition, in this case I have no reason to think the car isn't genuine. Bobhope has been honest and upfront, I have more photos coming and more details via pm.

NAH, the MOT should be like that and I have no reason to doubt this car at all, but not all, my terry should not have passed it's MOT when I bought it, and I bet there are many hundreds of vehicles driving around on dodgy MOT's.

Like I said, I'm not saying this is the case with Bob's car though

i certainly don't disagree, I know full well there are cars out there with MOT's on that shouldn't have, but I don't think its relevant to Bobhopes car. You have to put a certain level of trust in the MOT, which I do, but I know full well what goes on and without being disrespectful to Bobhope I will scrutinize the car to make sure I am happy, which I am sure he will be fine with.

looks a good car for the money. At that price its even worth buying for spares.
I would have to agree on the mot comments though.
I brought mine from a garage with a full ticket. there was no way it was fit enough to pass an mot every rubber bush was knackerd.they turned the tyres around to make them look leagal.and it it need a lot of other bits too.

I always take "Dealers" cars with new 12 month MOT with great caution. They're in the business and mates with the man in the pit. So one can easily expect dealers cars to be a lot more shady
A friend of mine just bought a Disco with new mot. He came round for some help with a suspension lift etc. On looking underneath it was apparent that his kids were sat on a seat no longer attached to the car and the seat belts were "tacked" in place. needless to say VOSA are now investigating that garage
On the whole private sellers MOTs are the usual run of the mill garage job and do mainly indicate a certain level of car road worthiness, usually.
Used as a guide it's fine and in this case even more so as the truck's already aired it's problems over the years on this here fine 4x4 site :clap
Clivvy I'm sure will having a good butchers round it, as would any potential buyer worth his salt. especially as Clivvy has been bitten by the T2 bug already :D
Good luck mate and take a torch and a pokey thing

You are right about the Stealers MOT's, they are not worth a light.

Mine came with a 12month ticket, and the spare wheel was down to the canvas, both front drop links were knackered, and one was not even done up tight. A week after I got it, the rear exhaust section just dropped off, and the drivers side calliper was half seized.

I would hope that private dodgy MOT's are harder to get, so should be a bit more trust worthy.. although after we had paid for the T1, the guy was telling us how he knows a guy who will MOT a car for £50...:eek: Not the guy who did the one on the T1 though... apparently.

You can't beat a bit of knowledge on the car you are going to look at, and a good look round, then at least you can see if anything looks near the limit, and if you still decide to go ahead, use the MOT ticket to give you time to sort out all the problems before the next one is due.

Good Luck Clivvy, hope it's a good un...

thanks mr Ferret, your absolutely right. Bobhope will hopefully come back to me with some more pics etc, and ill arrange to go see him Saturday for a final look. Fingers crossed :thumbs
