I've just removed the banjo bolt only to find no spring and their seems to be no filter, it is the 2.7 tdi could some one help regarding this I'm wondering if they did a revise and changed the smaller bolt and spring for a longer bolt?

There doesn't seem to be a logical answer for why many have it and many don't, at least you know now

Many members, myself included, have removed and not replaced the mini filter as they do not appear to be necessary (after all, if Mr Nissan decided to fit them to some Terranos but not others then their importance has to be in question!)
It may be that yours are among those who have gone down this route at some time in it's past.

depends on which pump you have, and some were fitted on the inlet, and some on the outlet, so best check both ends, Rick

It also comes down to the age of the truck 1993-96 TD has the spring & mini filter set up like in the down loads but Nissan changed the set up on the 1996-06 TDI's where the filter is inside the banjo bolt & can be missed or over looked if you don't have a really good look. If it is missing you will clearly see through the holes in the banjo bolt but if it is there you will either see the silver of the filter in the holes or they will look black which means it needs a clean

I had a look at removing this mini filter from the banjo bolt however when I started undoing the bolt it started leaking fuel, is this right????

The filter is higher than the banjo bolt, so gravity will take over.
Not sure how much will run out though, as some might flow back to the tank!

So...
is it best to do the mini filter before the main fuel filter, or other way around?

Starting it first to see if it runs ok, as doing both together could cause an issue, and you won't know which is still causing the problem.

eg poor seal at main fuel filter, or poor seal at the banjo bolt.

So which one first?
I would guess the main filter, then if you disturb something, the mini filter will catch it.:nenau

This is the odd thing about the mini filter, it is SS gauss filter much less filtering than the paper main fuel filter, it really has no point in being there whatsoever, Rick
