Anyone got experience with an "Air Induction Kit"???????
There are some for sale on ebay guaranteeing to increase performance, basically by just changing the air filter!
I am tempted as my Maverick, bought last week, is a bit sluggish!
Any idea's, thoughts, experiences??????????????????

Alot depends on where your going to take your Mav  If it is going to spends it's life on tarmac then an induction kit would be fine foe you but to get the best from it you would have to run a cold air feed pipe from the front grill right up to the filter & poss make a heatshield (if not one in the kit) to keep the hot air made by the turbo away from the filter, but you will have to be carefull not to hit any large puddles fast as the water could spray up on/into the filter & they kill your engine.
If you are thinking of taking your mav off road then I would go for a replacement air filter which fits into the standard air box as it will be protected far more from water  TBH you'll only get a poss 5bhp from fitting a filter, but i've found that my throtle responce is far better now & it seams to pull better in the higher gears
I would have a look to see if your mav has a mini filter fitted as these can effect the performance of your motor badly

Id like to know how you get on T243.. ive s T2. but more bhp is always handy to have when playing

As you have the TD, and is alot more 'manually tunable', and a free flow filter will be worth at most say 5bhp on most engines, I would recommend you give it a proper stage 0 tune up:

Pop in a new standard filter, oils and the like. When were the tappets last checked?

Check very carefully all the vaccum hoses, especially the boost aneroid connection, replace where necessary, or at least chop off the last 1/2 inch and refit so they are all leak free.

Disable and plate the EGR valve if fitted.

Get an accurate boost gauge hooked up and see you are getting 9psi. Have the wastegate reset / replaced if you are not.

After that, have the pump optimised (worth 15-20 and alot more torque at least) and following that a decent sized front mount intercooler, 1 bar of boost and resetting the pump again will give you at least 155bhp on a good motor.

That is about the limit for the T25 turbo, and you would then need a T28 off a 200sx and custom downpipe as by this time charge temps and more importantly exhaust temps are getting way too high.

Hope this helps for starters!

Air Filter

Well, most of that went Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over my head!

I'm not a mechanic, nothing like it, but, I can change an air filter, so I'll try that.
I've read somewhere that there are filters with better flow, plus they last a life time compared to standard ones, so maybe I'll try one of them to start with, nice and simple!!

Next I need someone local to me with a 2.7td 5 door and roof rails fitted so I can measure out where to fit the ones I just got off ebay cheap!
Thanks for answers folks, much appreciated.
