oil quantity

i bought 2 containers and put it in a litre at a time, including the oil filter it took 7.2 litres i drive 1998 2.7 tdi t2. some oil containers are 4 litres others are 4.5litres either way you still need 2 hope this helps Andy.

I can never get 7.2 litres in my TD, with a filter change and a hot oil change at that.
More like 6.5 litres in total, so check the dip stick from 6 litres onwards.

Tip:- part fill the new filter so that the engine doesn't run dry while the filter fills.

I know most garages don't but I have always done this on the Mav... Because you can. Unlike other filters that are horizontal.:doh

that sounds about right with what i put in mine 7.5 ish ltrs

I am with rustic on this, it's more like 6.2 without filter and 6.7 with, I think the 3.0 has a bigger oil capactiy at around 7.5. It is all in my manual but that is miles away on a shelf and I won't see it for at least another month :nenau

And i agree on part filling the filter, just whack it in, it all soaks into the paper and doesn't spill when fitting, this used to be standard practice in days gone by :thumb2
