My engine will not tickover unless I pull the fuse for the fuel pump! I found this out when I was trying to diagnose the problem. I was trying to check wether the injectors were OK and so unplugged the fuse to empty the fuel lines before disconnecting them and found that the engine ran smooth when the pump was not running, although obviously it would not rev high but was fine at low revs. Any ideas?

hi knotting_pot, sounds like over fuelling for some reason, has any dash lights come on. :augie

could have a look here--EGR sensor 2.4 petrol engine, its in a previous thread just look down the list and you'll find it.

Just a thought but could it be anything to do with your lpg setup?

Thats a thought, pulling the fuel pumpfuse would stop the petrol if for some reason it was trying to run on both - could be the emulator playing up. If this is whilst you're running on LPG disconnect the injectors and see if the same thing happens - my old one went wonky for a while a couple fo years ack and I had to swap it manually from lpg to petrol by swapping the injector leads around for a while.

Do you know how to do the double click trick to make it start on lpg instead of starting on petrol an switching over? Start with it switched to petrol, then swicth to the auto position, orange light should flash, then switch back to petrol then back to auto, orange light should stay on constant this time.

Thanks for the replies. The engine will start on lpg from cold or hot with no problem, in fact I have not used the petrol for some months now, ever since it started to play up on petrol in fact. Today I just decided to investigate the petrol running side of things in case I ever run out of lpg. I have put injector cleaner in the tank and done a few miles hoping to clean out the injectors but no joy so far. I will have to isolate the gas and try running on petrol to see if it is trying to run on both.

Well it stopped running altogether today on either fuel. Luckily my son was using it as I had hired a car to get to Stevenage as I did not trust it! RAC reckons it is just the rotor arm...I am not so sure as I replaced the rotor arm, leads and distributor cap when I bought it about 4 months ago.
