Hi all,
my 1993 Maverick 2.4i (mk2 engine 1996+) has flat spots when accelerating. I have replaced plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor which did not help what so ever. The engine ticks over smoothly and has no miss-fires as such and if you press the pedal gently it will rev up slowly without much of an issue, but press your foot down and it all goes flat with intermittent power.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your advise :bow

would that affect a petrol? Im no mechanic, but trying to learn :D

if it cant suck enough petrol in and is sucking in air then yes it will do

check for damp areas afound all fuel lines. Might not be enough to drip but just to suck in air.

Zippy

I will check that then this weekend when I can get to a ramp. I have also just thought that a blocked fuel filter could have a similar affect??? For £7 gotta be worth changing i think, do you know where it is located on the petrol models? :)

ah. that wouldnt help either..

Ive no idea where the filter is on a petrol...

Changed the fuel filter at the weekend, it still had the original Nissan one fitted 111,000 miles later...
Im pleased to say it made a massive difference, now back to its old power, however it still has the hiccups... :doh
