when i put it in 1st gear when cold its a bit stiff to get in but when its warmed up after driving a few miles its ok,is this normal

Change the gear box oil as its probably the original :thumbs

Mine was until i changed all the oils :thumbs

Its nothing to worry about :thumbs

I changed my gearbox oil and clutch fluid and it has now become stiff to get 1st when cold... was ok before hand :doh:doh:doh mind you the old oil was very thin compared to the new stuff :nenau:nenau... I used the spec stated in the manual and used a gearbox 'additive' as thought that would be a nice treat for it :).... now just either 'double de clutch' or from stationary put it into 2nd then 1st..seems to work better and then fine when warmed up... no clutch slip so assume that to be ok... clutch is a bit on the heavy side so maybe need to bleed it more?

Tell me about it.having a stiffy when trying to select first gear made me decide i needed a new clutch.on inspection the removed clutch showed no signs of wear.i also had a new slave cylinder fitted as some twonk had replaced the pin in said slave with a bolt, being thicker than the pin and threaded obviously didnt travel as far.on the plus side i know all the clutch is new on the minus bank account is down.

ADZ you are so right.... thought I was doing the car and me a favour as no idea on the previous levels of service. As the rear axle was juddering when reversing around corners i changed all the oils anyway (if I was crawling about under the truck I thought I would do it all at once)... still it did sort out the judder ! :lol:lol

I have always found the gearbox a bit lumpy during cold weather, but it soon frees up as the car warms up, it's just the thickness of the oil when cold( the gear oil isnt multigrade).

so no harm done. regards bri...

Mine is never stiff when it's cold ! OR warm for that matter....

Reason it's kept in a warm garage, but I have put molyslip in it and that helps I'm sure.
