Is the gearbox from a 1998 model terrano 2.7tdi the same as/fit into a 2004 of the same car?

That's a good question.

I wonder if the different gearboxes can be identified by something simple like the speedo drive.
My 1995 is the earlier gearbox, and that has a cable drive coming out of the gearbox half way up, on the drivers side, ie right hand side.

The later ones, the speedo is electronic. But what year?

Also is the dfference also the intercooler too?
