16 ohm speaker wanted

im restoring this old goodmans quadro 904 tape/ radio/ tv entertainment unit and one of the bass/mid speakers doesnt work, i took the speaker box apart and cheaked wiring that was fine, ive looked on ebay but cant find a speaker the right size, any ideas where i could get one:nenau the speaker measures 10cm screw hole to screw hole

Could you use a speaker the right size but of lower impedance and fit a ballast resistor? Briggie would be the man to answer this one:thumb2
 
or use two 8 ohm speakers in series ...Speaker A + Speaker B = Total Ohms Rating
8 Ohms + 8 Ohms = 16 Ohms

or like plank said a ballast resistor , but it will need to be a fairly high wattage one , unless you want to start farting about connecting resistors in paralell , much easier to find a 16 ohm speaker lol , normally found in security systems too :thumb2 but its finding one the right size for your cabinet thats the prob
 
yeah, its a strange size speaker, thats the only problem, not the impedance:doh
 
how does a normal 10cm speaker compare? or could you use a slightly smaller speaker and make something to make up the difference?

I tried a 10 cm but was about 2 cm to big:doh
