well after taking the shell off the terrano after the fire i found so much rot i was in shock, how the hell it got a new mot cert is beyond me, so a little advice, when you see an ad for a car/truck that says 12 months mot, do not hold the mot as gospel that everything is ok, make sure you check for the rot, sills, wheel arches, bulkhead floor pan, EVERYWHERE i know when i get a new truck it is being gone over with a fine tooth comb before any money leaves my hands

Some things you just can not see though. And the MOT does state that it is not to be used to prove a vehicle is road worthy.
I never trust an MOT to tell me anything apart from i can get road tax, as they are all subject to the testers abilities and interpretation. Where one may pass it, another may fail it.
My mate is a tester and i let him do all mine, that way im not ripped off and i get an honest answer (In his opinion) of anything i need to look at.
Take an RAC or AA bloke with you, he will find owt wrong. :naughty

they can't remove anything to check further, also if it's not near body mounts or seatbelt mounts etc then you could probably have a flintstones car.

Got mine with a brand new MOT. Wasn't happy with some of the things I found when I had the exhaust replaced. Called in VOSA and they said it should never has passed. I have taken the dealer to court for compensation because the vehicle was not roadworthy.

And you was suprised to find rot after the pics you posted im happy my paint holds mine together

I can get you an mot down the pub for a ton :augie and that will defo be worth a ton :sly

But do not forget people, that the T2 has a chassis, this supports the body and as long as the important areas body wise are sound then the T2 will support a large amount of body rot without detriment, important areas mainly being the seat belt points, with ten body mounts (LWB) I would not consider rust close to two or three to be detrimental, Rick

mines got a bit of surface rust on the chassis but after tapping most on the underside with a hammer, nothing crumbled, mines solid:D i'll be cleaning and smothering the underside with wax-oil:thumb2

nice bit of info mate:bow
