    Very poorly 3.0

Replacement engine has been obtained with thanks to Panelbeater for £225! Bearing in mind that the cams aren't turning and that the engine turns over too easily we're now working on the theory that the timing chain guides have broken causing damage. The chain looks to be in normal position and...

    Very poorly 3.0

Done. Seeing the engine tomorrow. Apparently it's got 100k on it, the fuel pump died and the bloke couldn't find a replacement. No idea if the injectors and other bits are okay so it's a case of "pays your money takes your chance".

    Very poorly 3.0

Well, not good news. The garage got back to me. The timing chain is broke and most likely a lot of damage up top. Trying to arrange a look at second engine locally or another Terrano. The local garage estimates about £300 labour to swap engine on top of cost of engine. Any tips on checking out...

    Very poorly 3.0

That is a good price. I'm still waiting for the garage to do their checks but if a replacement is needed that would be ideal and is about 20 miles from me. Mine is a manual, would that cause problems? Can you on me the contact details please? Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Very poorly 3.0

Cheers, but it doesn't sound good but I'm hoping for a positive diagnosis from the garage. In the meantime I'm looking at how much my Terrano is worth ('02 SVE 148K) against a possible replacement engine and labour if it comes to it. Otherwise it's spares/repair.

    Very poorly 3.0

I think my '02 3.0 engine is in a critical way and I'm wondering what has happened. Whilst going slow into works car park the engine started sounding like a clattery 1.0 diesel, lost power and died a bit like running out of diesel. Luckily I could coast into a parking space in ten yards. I...

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

I'll take a picture of the ARB and post it up as I haven't a clue as to how obvious an upside down one would look. I am wondering if there is some kind of imbalance. It's almost as if the drop is being stretched. If the left ARB is travelling up and the right side is going slower then it's...

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

Oh cock ... who would have thought that posting an update on breaking front ARB drop links would result in another one breaking today? Towed three vehicles out of ice snow and now have that familiar front end clonking. I think it's time to replace with the rose joints mentioned recently. Sent...

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

Update ... The last time a front ARB broke it was noticed that the front shocks were loose. Since replacing the shocks the ARBs have been fine. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Battery Dimensions

My battery started playing up this morning requiring a jump start and it sounds as if the battery is on its way out (the alternator is fine). The current battery is an Exide Excell EB704 rated at 70Ah and a cold crank (CCA) of 540A. Looking at other threads here I gather this CCA rating is on...

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

I believe the wheels and tyres are standard factory fitted. I checked this a couple years back as my speedo is reading about +10% Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

Local garage fitted them. If I remember correctly Mann rings a bell. I'm tempted to do it myself. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

Yes please to rose joints info. Would they reuse the poly bushes I had installed previously? Would they also need chunky extra washers if the holes in the wishbones are worn larger? Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

I wouldn't know to be honest. I'll compare mine to the pics in the download manual for the droplink. Would it be obvious if it was upsidedown?

Why do ARB droplinks keep breaking?

I posted two years ago with a photo of my worn front ARB droplink and had them replaced. In two years I've had four break (1 nearside 3 offside). I looked today and found the driver's side has snapped again. This was replaced about 4 months back with new poly bushes. I don't do off-roading other...

    Transmission Squeal

Had prop shaft UJ replaced earlier this year and has a nipple on it. Checked there is no play. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Transmission Squeal

Interestingly I noticed the squeal happens in reverse with accelerator or not. Today in the wet the noise had disappeared. Now someone told me it's the thruster bearing in the clutch and that the noise travels so as to make appear it's from the rear. The bearing has been knocking from two years...

Definitely bare metal on metal rotating sound. Also wondering if universal joint on prop needs greasing via nipple. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Transmission Squeal

I replaced the oil with proper LSD oil about 18 months back and topped up with the same. I checked the level today with the finger in the hole and seemed ok. Surprised it topped up to brim. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk
