    Terrano dead help desperately needed

Whenever I can!:D The clutches are the 9-5, then I have a couple of nights a week delivering chinese and at weekends I roadie for a friends band. I have a low boredom threshold so if I'm getting out of the house I might as well be paid for it!

    Terrano dead help desperately needed

Not rare with the Valeo, I remanufacture clutches in my day job and funny enough I got a T2 Valeo in today with the same plate failure, the Valeo stuff seems lighter made for some reason, Valeo clutches tend to use thinner liners than LuK or the Japanese stuff.

How sharp should the brakes be?

Mine lock on wet roads, they'll lock in the dry if you give it a good stamp, saying that, when I drive the OH's Citigo, the first few times I touch the brakes I nearly go through the windscreen. They're like a light switch in comparison to the T2.

    Rav4's

I like them, generally reliable although the D4D's have the usual DMF woes, there's a good SMF conversion about for decent money, not really an off roader compared to a Grand Vitara, so most likely used as a "normal" car by suburban yummy mummies, the odd owner thinks they are a Terrano and...

Are new cars less reliable ths days?

Most modern cars don't even have a spare wheel, you get a bottle of goo instead, just what the goo is supposed to do with a tyre that has ran over a broken bottle, must never occurred to the penny pinchers in the accounts dept. People don't usually need to be able to try and start the car or...

Are new cars less reliable ths days?

If you want reliability, you cannot get much better than an old XUD engined Pug diesel, just throw fresh oil at it every 6k and it will keep going. I have a theory that the manufacturers sell the public a car as a domestic appliance, our Citigo is on a finance deal, the missus will trade it in...

Chassis problem with 2004 SWB Terrano

They'll put a prohibition notice on that mate, the only way they'll let it back out through the gates is on a recovery wagon. Funny enough, mine has just had £300 worth of chassis welding done, it's up for test tomorrow too.

    Looking like an expensive week

The straps on the pressure plate lose their tension if the clutch is overheated, are there any rattling/scraping noises when the clutch is pushed down with the car stationary in gear?

    New wing

I had fibreglass wings on my Mk2 Escort, they were fine but I had to earth the radio antenna to the inner wing.

    Heeeeeellllllppppp!

Bloke I know was working in the H&W shipyard doing a refit on some sort of boats engine when it ran away, everybody scattered but the foreman, an old guy a few weeks off retirement, casually strolled up and threw his brown foreman's coat into the intake to stall the thing before it blew up.

    Whats your mileage?

2001 T2 with 74k on the clock, there's a dealer round these parts selling a Pathfinder with 300k on it! Highest mileage car I ever owned was one of the old square Proton 1.5's with 250k on it, it was an ex taxi and was on it's 3rd gearbox, The engine was still running like a sewing machine when...

Red warning for NI, house 2 doors up has scaffolding outside so I moved the Terrano down the street in case it comes down! Windows haven't been shaking so it's not too bad so far.:thumb2 I wanted some snow. Not one sodding flake!:doh

Things that make you realise you are getting older

Radio. I knew I was getting old when I found I didn't have Radio 1 amongst my presets, and all the stuff I liked had became "classic rock":thumb2

    Which Car

If it's a one off trip, just hire a biggish car? It's quite cheap if you book in advance.

    Which Car

The missus has just bought her third new Skoda in a row, she did 60000 miles on the other two in 5 years and never had a breakdown on the road, the first one was a 2008 Fabia and it needed a cam sensor when the EM light came on, second one was a 2012 Fabia and it had a sticky seatbelt replaced...
