    Hi, thanks for the replies. The clutch is very stiff to operate and the fluid looks in poor condition - very dark in colour. I'm hoping that the clutch itself isn't on the way out and or something else is wrong. If anyone is local and can give me a wise opinion on this please let me know.

    Hi, thanks for the welcome. As a current user of both Saab and BMW forums such things are invaluable. I only hope this one is a bit less fascist that the BMW forum. The hints and advice are very helpful. My need for a trusted garage is time. I use a local Saab specialist and it's brilliant.
