    Should I get my coat?

I was intending to buy an R3M-R when I signed up here a short while ago. I travelled 200 miles to see one but was disappointed with its cosmetic state, even though it drove brilliantly. To get over my disappointment I sought solace in the car buying section on Ebay ( as you do ). I ended up...

    Please bear with me....

I know what you mean about addictive. During the test drive the seller directed me up a rocky, muddy woodland path after telling me to select 4WD. I'm sure it wasn't challenging to you lot but I felt like I'd climbed Everest in it! Definitely put a big grin on my face.:)

    Please bear with me....

Just to re-itterate, I'm new here and have never owned any 4x4 vehicle or an automatic. However I'm 52 years old and a quick learner. I had a test drive in a Terrano R3MR 2.7TD Auto this weekend but was confused about the various settings available. This model has a switch on the dash with...

    nissan terrano R3MR insurance blues

Those quotes sound good to me. I'm in a similar position...trying to decide whether or not to buy an R3MR that I've been to see. Adrian Flux were the most user friendly to deal with....the grey import business was no problem at all. However, the best I could do was £378 for 6000 mile per annum...

    R3MR

Thanks for the warm welcome.....that's very good of you to offer me a trip out. I pick it up in a couple of weeks time (other end of the country as usual! ) and once I've got used to driving it I may take you up on that offer. I'll give Admiral a try on the insurance...that premium sounds...

Sounds great...my end of town and suitable for a novice. While I'm on...any tips for cheap insurance, maybe as a second vehicle?

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I assume that they were all originally for the Japanese domestic market. They look like a terrano on steroids!:D

    R3MR

Thanks for the Sheffield welcome. Whereabouts are the "local" lanes? Yes, I was going to ask if anyone knew about parts compatibility/interchangeability between the various models. As is common on the R3MR, the chrome bumper corners are rusty/messy. Do they share bumper sections with any more...

    R3MR

Hahaha No, older cars and classics have always been part of my life, despite their negative effect on finances. I'm sure a cheap old 4x4 will be much of the same. Ignore what they say....Age does not necessarily bring wisdom !:D

    R3MR

Cheap enough to be "disposable" after 6 months of money pit misery!:D Watch this space!

    R3MR

I did warn you that I knew nothing about what I was getting into.:D Realistically it will be used 98% for commuting and 2% for very gentle macho posturing.
