Thanks everybody, got it out and replacement back in last night. :) The trick seems to be to go in through the wheel arch and lift out/ pull up from the top. The right spanners help, I use metrinch but they're no good in restricted areas.

Thanks guys. Replaced airfilter with K&N, checked codes fault in brake light switch and fuel fauge. Cleared codes, everything seems ok.

I have a 98 Mav 2.7tdl. I get the check engine light coming on intermitently, brake and the light clears. Last couple of days it's come on on start up, won't clear and the engine has no powe, checked air filtet and going to replace with K&N. Any ideas?
