Its now sorted! ive taken it to an auto-diagnostics centre nearby who charged 20 quid an hour,spend 6 hours on it and only charged 60 (BARGAIN!!) Bascially theres an inline fuse inside the wiring loom at the back of the battery and its the smallest of fuse wire inside the loom hence took so...

or take the thermostat out and test it in a boiling hot glass of water to see if it opens and shuts

im not that good with electrics though to be honest :(

i have a spare starter and was thinking of changing it earlier..but on the otherhand i had a fully charged battery on there last night,went to start it this morning and was dead

ive taken everything off the battery ie,spotlights,cb,linear amp etc..and its just the normal pos and live that goes onto the battery unless one of the standard relays are stuck switched to constant live?

ive now fitted a new terminal and dash lights came on almost instantly..went to start it and it went flat once again. really am baffled now,ive checked all the wiring,the altanator is fine,battery is fine too but somewhere its drawing to much power

ive gone out and bought a new battery terminal for "live'" but stripping the cable from the other one is proving to be a pain in the bottom! and the terminal i have is far to small for the wires to go through so will have to look for another one,i shall let you know how i get on

trust me the altanator is fine..its been tested after they did it too!

ive checked the wiring and the wiring seems fine,im thinking its a relay somewhere along the line,as i said i put a live from the powerprobe and the dashlights lit up

because i thought it may be the altanator not charging the battery,and i changed the battery just incase that was duff too.

basically i was going up a lane..and as i was going up the dash lights were flickering and then going brighter than normal then flickering once again. i got to the top of the lane and turned the jeep off..went to turn it back on and nothing what so ever. so the next day i had the altanator...

but would the igniton switch cause the battery to go flat though?

sounds like hubs or diff is buggered..have you tried four wheel high as well as low?

Hi there! I have a "M" reg ford maverick swb.. ive had the altanator refurbished and replaced the battery and still something is draining the power causing it not to start..when its jump started off another jeep it starts fine but no dash lights come on..give it a few revs and the dash lights...
