boot door can't be opened anymore

Hello all the past weeks I noticed it got increasingly difficult to open the boot door on my swb T2. Never tried to fix it, as it will be sold in the coming weeks. Now, today I could not get the door open anymore, from outside or from inside. Tried locking and unlocking, the solenoid in the...

As my T2 will soon go, can't use these anymore. Free, against postage costs: - 2 T2 front anti-roll bar bushes, orange PU (originally from Milner's) - 5 T2 front anti-roll bar link bushes (not 5 sets!!): 2 orange PU, 3 black rubber - 6 T2 front anti-roll bar link washers - 2 T2 front wheel arch...

    almost time to say goodbye

To the T2. After almost 4 years and 30000 miles with us, we bought a replacement today. Fiat Panda Cross, with the twinair engine and about all extras there are to be had, delivery expected end July. Love the T2, but keeping it here in Flanders doesn't make economic sense anymore, with the 800...

    impressed a Landy owner today

I was invited to a woodcock shoot (rough shooting) today. Beech forest, lots of mud, very hilly. Impressed the owner of the shoot, driving a lifted Defender on mud tyres, on the places and hills my trusted T2 got to - on Toyo AT tyres :)

MAF amp for sale - unused

Acquired a MAF amp thing from Ray here on the forum in 2015. But due to expected trouble with Belgian MOT I never got around to fitting it. So, since I did not use it for 2 years and since the T2 will have to go next year, I have for sale an unused maf amp including the documentation and a...

steering idler arm - grease nipple?

Just replaced the old steering idler arm on my T2. Pretty sure that was a genuine factory-installed part. Cleaned it up, and noticed that instead of a grease nipple it had a normal small bolt in the nipple hole. Perfect penny-pinching by Nissan? Or would a garage mechanic have removed it and...

tow hook bike carrier on Terrano?

Wise ones, I need your advice. Recently got a nice new bike, another one for Mrs perelaar, and thinking now of ways to increase our range of bike rides a bit. Does a bike carrier fit on the T2 tow hook - as in, is the spare wheel not in the way of the upright thing on the carrier? Don't want to...

where to get steering relay centre rod and idler arm?

Because I just failed Belgian MOT on those... Milners does not have the idler arm in stock, and Belgian shops ask crazy money (>£180 for the centre rod, >£60 for the idler arm)... Thanks in advance!

solved - thanks to the forum again

During a long highway run yesterday something started whining badly inside the dashboard. Checked forum when I got back, put some oil in the speedo cable cup, and it looks to be solved. Big test tomorrow, going to work with it (30 miles highway), but I have high hopes :) Now I wonder what the...

    gearbox drain plug

Wise ones, I'm a little upset. Changed all the oils on my T2 this weekend, just finished with the gearbox oil. The little magnet on the drain plug held some small metal parts - but also a bunch of very small ball bearings (1mm or so across). Never noticed anything wrong with the gearbox, it is...

    front diff oil?

Does the front dif take the same GL-5 LS oil as the rear dif, on a 2.7 TDI? Manual and the little instruction booklet in the car are not very clear... Also, I got (very cheap, sales) 2 cans of 75W90 LS GL-5, Valvoline I think. Would these be suitable for the front dif?

    belt squeaking

I noticed the car developed a few squeaks under the bonnet - less than 2 months after replacing all the belts. Especially the power steering pump belt squeaks, when on full lock, and the airco belt. Could it be the various pulleys, and if so, are they serviceable parts? Or better to try and...

    Scotland in May - tips?

I'll be spending a few days in Scotland, Cairngorms National park, early May. Any of you people have tips? Accomodation, visits, sightseeing etc... I'll be flying to/from Glasgow, as Mrs perelaar is organising an event there, and the idea is to spend a few days together afterwards. 2 things...

    snow chains?

Any of you guys have experience with snow chains? Not for the T2, but for our family car - Seat Leon FR, tyre size 225/40 R18. We will be doing quite some miles in the snow, and don't want to get caught out in the Alps. We have winter tyres installed. I've never used chains - but even here in...

    quite a difference

after replacing all three belts. No more squealing on cold start, quite a bit less engine noise and vibrations - I wouldn't be surprised if there is slightly better mpg now as well. Belts, especially the smallest one at the very bottom, were definitely on their way out. I also found three...

    washer pump not working

Since yesterday the window washer pump is not working anymore. I don't hear it, and no fluid is spraying on the windows. Fuse (if it is the one I think it is...) seems OK. Is there an easy way to check connections to the pump/pump itself? As far as I can see, everything is hidden behind the...

    anyone experience with recovery boards?

As the title says, any recommendations on / experience with recovery boards, sand plates, waffle boards etc? Don't want to spend €€ on a winch, and most places I drive there is nothing to winch from (driving around on our rough shoot area). No dry sand, only wet grass and clay/mud. Preferably...

    1997 2.7TDI vacuum hoses

Anyone an idea which size vacuum hoses I need, how much of them, and which (if any) other accessories? I'd like to replace as many as I can, the car just turned 20 years old and deserves a treat :)

    MOT tomorrow

Yearly Belgian MOT, that is. Did nothing to the T2 except the yearly oil change, will check lights tonight. And clean it up :D
