For Sale: 3.0 SVE LWB - Blue, 90k miles

It's time for the Terrano to go :) It's an awesome vehicle, 3.0 turbo, with a chip express tuning box fitted. Not having driven one without the tuning box, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I do know that this car is Quick! It also passed the emissions test on the MOT first rev, fast...

Time to sort the fuel gauge......

So, the fuel gauge has packed up - it's the meter itself thats gone (float test okay.) The solder on the gauge pins is dry and cracked - any attempts to solder it need 4 hands and magnifying glasses, so the next step is a trip to Maplins for a conductive pen. This could be a cheap way of...

I just found a Chip Express tuning box

And its fitted to my car..... There's a little bag velcroed to the bulkhead, and inside is a tuning box. Anyone got any experience of this particular box fittted to a Terrano, and thought on it? My 3.0 is pretty quick for such a big lump, and is very happy to wheelspin....

Wet feet in the drivers footwell - trim removal?

So, puddles on the floor suddenly in the drivers footwell. :( Its not dependent on how the cars parked - in fact drivers side higher than passenger, and the leak still happens. So probably not sunroof drain.. How does the A pillar trim come off? I can't get behind it to pull, and the workshop...

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

So, suddenly, the fuel gauge stopped responding. Then it started again :) But now its stopped again :( So, thanks to this forum, I read the manual - this goes against anything I have ever learnt :) Done the combination meter test, and the gauge sweeps empty to full nicely, so that rules out...

    Wheelspin !

Now the wet weather has arrived I'm wheelspinning more than I ever have in any vehicle ever! Slightest hill start and I have to be gentle on the throttle - I don't think my rear tyres are going to last long :) I'm missing the electronic 4wd selection on my old Surf - on for pulling away, then...

New outer cv boots and pads and discs going on today

Hopefully! Both outer boots have split, and the brakes are corroded, so all happening together. Not a self job, as no time, but local garage doing it for £120 labour. Parts from Motaquip through work, £57 inc vat :) with my staff discount I haven't ordered any seals for the hub, so here's...

    I nearly crashed today :(

Waiting to turn right at the lights, 2 cars coming towards me, no filter on my side. Both cars slow down, for some reason I thought it was safe to go, then realise as I am committed to the manoevure, that there is a crash about to happen.... Foot hard to the floor, cue lots of wheel spin, and...

    Holiday parking top tip

Don't write down the wrong bus stop in Gatwick long stay. 3am in the morning is NOT a good time to realise you can't find your car....

'Travellers' in the estate - how can I disable the Terrano?

So, about 30 caravans turn up in the night, along with the police helicopter, and pull onto the local recreation ground. There are now kids everywhere on bikes, and vans touring the streets. The locals will not be pleased, the cops know this, and are stationed all over the place.... Any ideas...

Knocking from one of the gearboxes

If my week wasn't bizarre enough, my 2 week old (to me) 3.0 now has a knocking from the box :( It goes away if I dip the clutch in neutral, but I can't really hear it when driving. My thoughts? clutch and flywheel :( and I bet its dual mass....

Speeding fine on the way :(

To top off a crap day, involving 5 hours in A&E with my wife after a door fell on her head, I got zapped on the way home at midnight! I pulled up at the lights, to go straight on, when a yoof on a hairdryer pulls up in the right hand filter lane. Straight ahead go green, filter stay red, and...

Bag of mush in the gearbox....

Its only been a week, but I swear my gearbox is more like a bag of mush than it was. 3rd gear in particular is in there somewhere... Seems better when I let the revs go higher, changing up at about 2.5k Maybe its because I'm used to the laziness of a 5 pot diesel.... I think a change of...

I won a Free Stella glass - engraved!

If you buy Stella by the box, there's a comp to get a glass, free and engraved, and I won one! However, when I asked them to engrave on it "The breakfast beer", they refused, as it apparently promotes drinking irresponsibly... So I asked them to put "La biere du petit dejeuner" And they did :D

Will someone just buy me a Terrano....

because I can't make my mind up! I'm worse than my wife with shoes :) I want a 3.0, manual, SVE , this much is certain. I'd quite like green or maroon (or whatever colour that is), something that looks good polished (stop throwing stones at me for blaspheming at the back!) All of a sudden, a...

    Auto vs manual, reliability

So in my quest for a Terrano, the next question..... Is the auto box a reliable one? What else is it fitted to, and is the box the same on the 2.7 and 3.0 ? I can cope with less mpg on the auto, but not with massive bills if the auto box fails :) A manual box I can get overhauled if it fails...
