The engine has stalled both when cold as well as warm.The MIL light doesn't always come on when it stalls. The few times it did it gave error code 18. I'm not quite sure what this code means.

My car only stalls when taking off from a dead stop. So far it has never stalled when slowing down to a stop. Is this symptomatic of a faulty crank position sensor or would the symptoms be different if this sensor was faulty?
