Oil pressure swiches and ballast resistor

I did a work sheet on changing the switch on a 3.0 Terrano see http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/downloads/workshop/wk42.pdf one of the photos shows the extension adaptor that came with the modification kit from Nissan. The mod kit contained the new switch, extension piece and thread lock. On a...

    Gear stick

Bush is about £5 from a main dealer. See http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/downloads/workshop/wk38.pdf for the procedure takes about an hour, you won't need circlip pliers. As yours is the SVE the radio housing will not be the same but the procedure I wrote has photos of my wife's 2005 3.0...

    Lights out??

Any chance of a photo or two showing the problem area. Intermittent faults are a sod to find, well done.

Just won't idle and loves to stall!

Could be air leaking into the fuel fuel system check fuel filter seating and fuel pipes near tank/rear wheel arch. It could also be a duff fuel filter. As said above engine fault codes should give you a clue if its an electrical component. Good luck!!

    Oil light has come on

On balance I would not like a vehicle without oil pressure indication. So far excluding the Terrano I have had 3 oil pressure switch failures (Cortina mk2, Triumph Herald and a Transit van) in 30+ years of motoring. I have also had 3 losses of oil pressure, one in a company car that had been...

    Oil light has come on

Finally wrote the simple procedure up for those who follow see http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/downloads/workshop/wk42.pdf photos seem to have suffered slightly during the PDF processing but should be good enough. One final thing the deep socket, some people say use 27mm which will work if...

    Wow

Same can happen with chunks of rust from the outside of the disc when you change wheels.

    Intercooler rubber bushes

I know this is an old post but I have just had the same problem, the noise from the intercooler was very annoying between 2000 and 2500 RPM. I thought my gearbox bearings had gone again after only 5 weeks but after turning the remains of the bushes 180° so they trapped the intercooler mounting...

    Trailer required, your suggestions welcome.

I have a B and B trailer sat on my drive that requires 2 new axels, it had 2 Avonride axels but one rusted through its mounts and then the rear axel rode over the front axel. View in the rear view mirror was interesting to say the least, seeing a 5' X 8' trailer completely fill the rear window...

    Oil light has come on

I wonder if the switch from the motor factors is the low oil pressure switch, my suspicion is the "switch" with the yellow band is a transducer rather than a simple switch. The deep socket required is 26mm but you can get away with a hex sided 27mm. I took the sender to my local tool emporium...

    Oil light has come on

I took a series of photos showing the easy way to change the high speed pressure switch (the one with the yellow band) when I replaced mine for the 4th time. Given a few minutes to spare I will write it up as a workshop sheet. Easy to do by removing the offside wheel and unclipping the rubber...

    Tirfor/ hand winch

They do have four advantages over a fixed vehicle winch in that they 1) Can be used at either end of the vehicle. 2) They don't run the battery flat. 3) Can be used sideways to keep the vehicle slipping off the track. 4) Can be used for pulling tree trunks and large rocks clear of the track...

    soldering iron help

Having worked in the aircraft industry in a former life and done vibration tests I can say properly formed crimps are far superior to solder joints BUT you need to use a proper crimp tool and decent crimps. Given the choice I use AMP brand PIDG (plastic insulated diamond grip) with the correct...

terrano 2-Fitting front nearside indicator unit

I have changed the bulb in the front indicator and the instructions are in the vehicle Owners Manual page 7.28, I you have lost your handbook I can copy the page out of mine. Remove the screw at the top of the lens (under the bonnet) then pull the lens forward and it pops out, I took a few...

    Any Gearbox Gurus???

Just had my gearbox repaired, main fault was the input bearing but it feels more like a new gearbox. The local HGV repairers I used (OK apart from the oily boots) removed the gearbox and took it to Stephen Brear in Leeds for repair, the company does not have a website I can find but they are...

    I need a gearbox doctor

Truck now back with very, very quiet gearbox. Waited for a week for the bill to arrive but it came to £870 ish inc. VAT, this included supply and fitting of a new clutch kit, the old one would have lasted a lot longer but it seemed wise to fit a new one as access was simple. Rustic was correct...

    Noisy gearbox

Well having just had the same problem with the same symptoms I would put my money on the input shaft bearing. I had my gearbox fixed last week. The problem is apparently caused by the input bearing being above the oil line so it does not receive enough lubrication. Though the noise had been...
