    Happy Childhood

:clap Jim! While collecting a car and spares with a friend, a tyre ended up leant against a neighbours rose bush and he came over to have a moan. I could see my friend stiflingly back laughter as he told the guy he thought it was a Goodyear for the roses!

    Rant!

I don’t think it will be long before dashcam footage is used to hike your insurance premiums in some way or refusing insurance if they can show you and your vehicle committing an offence.

    Rant!

For the Motorway Muppets on their phone, I have often thought a stick with an air horn and video camera on would be fun out of the passenger window and post the results on YouTube.

    Molten Metal.

This Golf 4 1.6 might be going to meet it’s maker, front catalytic converter has melted and burnt some exhaust valves. Suspect it had a misfire to cause the meltdown as the spark is poor to intermittent. Shame as it’s a good tidy car and just had a gearbox and clutch. Hoped it would be an easy...

    New winter project

:clap The modern version of news paper of which I have found plenty in the past. One of the best sill packers was a Kimberley Clarke hand towel dispenser. :clap Are you doing a like for like repair or something a little more heavy duty?

    Where has everyone gone

I keep looking in but nothing much to contribute at the moment as I have a bit of a downer on vehicles at the moment, too many of them here. :(

HAIRSPRAY it's not just for hair.

Elnett wasn't just for Mods on their scooters! :augie Not heard of letting it dry first though, unless it acts like the varnish on cylinder head gaskets with heat.

    Tools you have made

I think from memory the box was 50x50mm and the plates were 10x75mm cut to 200mm. They were bolted together using M10 studding with nuts welded on as it was cheaper than bolts. Uprights were round tube to suit the wheels. The clamping effect from the plates on the box section worked better than...

    Tools you have made

I made that to solve a problem I had with the Autovip 1700 car roller. The space I had to work in was just big enough to roll the car on its side one way so I had to turn the car round in order to work on the opposite side floor and chassis for repairs. To turn the car round meant refitting the...

    New shoes and dials

I think it was Humbrol that did a vinyl paint, I used it extensively on some of my early cars. The first time I tried it was on white headlining in my Opel Ascona, it was sound but tatty looking despite much cleaning so I decided to paint it black. I started with a brush on the pillars that were...
