    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Had some fun on the N-Y-M washouts today, as I fancied a quick run out. The Maverick may wave wheels in the air but it keeps going! Need to do something about the clonking ARB drop links though. Payday can't come soon enough!

Welsh weekend laning 2012 - once a month

Had a quick trip around N-Y-M myself today, but couldn't see much levelling. Can certainly see why the washouts need some work though! Was a struggle to get through where I'd sailed through only a few weeks ago.

Just been reading up on traction aids, LSD etc

LSDs are fab for most situations. In fact, my last 4x4 was a Rangie with the viscous centre diff (a different kind of limited slip). It was brilliant. With an LSD at the back, most 4x4s become very difficult to get stuck, as long as at least one of the rear wheels has traction (and you're not...

Welsh weekend laning 2012 - once a month

Managed to get into the site now. Think I'm going to have to rule out the Sunday as well though. Maybe next time!

Welsh weekend laning 2012 - once a month

Bother. I'm busy on the Saturday. Annoying as I live IN Devil's Bridge! EDIT - can't register on that site either. Says something about not being able to find socket!

    Tyres 1998 terrano

^^^ What he said. Mine's on All Terrains (worn never-heard-of-them at the rear, brand new and stupidly named Matador Izzardas at the front). Good traction on the road, quiet and good off-road.

    Electrical advice needed

Is the battery definitely flat? Do any lights come on? I'd suspect an electrical gremlin first of all, especially with a modern Peugeot. It would take a big drain to lose the power during a working day. You'd need to leave something like the interior light on to do that. You won't see any...

    front brakes

Aye. Took me ages first time. Several days in fact! Though getting sent the wrong bits didn't help... I just about managed to avoid snapped sliders on mine but it took a LOT of penetrating oil and wiggling the slider back and forth with a spanner - then walloping them with hammers.

Uncle Silvia's Terrano II - From the beginning!!

Looking good (the Terrano that is, not the Mitsu thing!). I've also got the damp passenger footwell issue, so I'll do similar checks. When I get a moment...

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Well, I've greased them up a bit when I had them off for the disc change. I didn't do much more than that. The RH front disc does seem to get mildly warmer than the LH but I was wondering if that was a hint of brake bind rather than hub? Though it could only be a faulty hose as I've replaced...

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Eep. 20.3mpg on the last tank of fuel. Perhaps I should have left the clogged fuel filter in place... To be fair, I've done over a day's worth of laning on this tank, which is never likely to yield excellent economy. Mind you, I've also been enjoying the fact that it pulls beyond 3000rpm now as...

New to 4x4 1998 terrano ii

Howdy. Before you go mad with mods, I've discovered that these are pretty capable in stock form with all-terrain tyres. Keep the pounds in your pocket and explore the capabilities out of the box would be my advice!

    Wipers on

I couldn't see where the earths were, but just pulling the big connector apart and cleaning up the contacts seems to have cured it for the moment.

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Very impressive. I may well be in touch next pay day. Still need a brake fluid reservoir cap if you've got one and I now need a driver's sun visor too.

    laning this weekend - pics

Great stuff. N-y-m is good fun at the moment. Be aware that the washouts are going to be repaired at some point fairly soon - though I think that entire lane is going to be lost to us when the wind farm kicks off. That is very impressive articulation!

my T2 was nearly bucket of parts!!

I do tend to be very wary of junctions for this very reason. Once had a similar occurrence at the M1/M18 interchange. Everyone slams the anchors on to avoid whoever's just made a last-minute dash. I sat there and was about to breathe a sigh of relief when a truck when thundering up the hard...

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Tempting. I'd like to keep it stock for the time being. I never struggled for traction today, just waved a wheel in the air occasionally! I had a look at Fez's truck the other day (nice to meet you Fez and thanks for the tyres!). It's very different to mine! Quite impressive.

Perhaps more flex at the back wouldn't be a bad idea...

    DVLA - Beware!

The scary bit is that they've even been clamping some people who HAVE declared SORN as they consider some car parks to be 'publicly accessible.' This was intended to give the police greater powers to stop idiot boy racers from 'hiding' on supermarket car parks and the like. If you park a car in...

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

Sorry, this pic is a repeat from the laning thread - just updating my rolling Maverick thread. There seems to be an occasional knock from the front end after the greenlane fun. Probably ARB links I guess. I shall investigate at some point (if the rest of the fleet stop giving me endless jobs...
