    Underbody protection

Fitting a guard can also rob vital inches from your ground clearance. I find I pay much more attention to picking a good line with only the standard underbody protection.

Halfords Professional 30 piece Metric Vortex Socket System

I like the look of those Halfords ratchet. A thumb switch and a press button to release the socket. My cheap Halfords socket has neither of these things. Can be bloody irritating when you need pliers or a screwdriver to remove a socket! Funnily enough, tools can quite easily get covered in oil...

Halfords Professional 30 piece Metric Vortex Socket System

I bought a cheap Halfords socket set in 1995 and last year, the ratchet finally broke. It took a hell of a beating over the years. I bought another cheap Halfords set and it's rubbish. The ratchet is dreadful and you can't change direction with a flick of the thumb anymore. That wasn't a...

    No screen washer

Odd that front and rear have stopped, as they're on different motors. You need to hotwire direct to the pump really to see if it then works. If it doesn't, new pump time. If it does, probably new wiper stalk time.

    Dollywobbler's Maverick

When 96terrano came to join us at Nant-y-Moch, I was a bit miffed that my Maverick was struggling in places that his wasn't. Time to look at the ride height. Definitely too low. In fact, the LH side was a good 2cm lower than the RH side. I set to with the spanners and things seem much better...

    gears

Doesn't really matter which gear, though first has a harder life, so I usually use a taller gear. I actually use fifth on the BX and if lucky enough to drive a TVR but the Nissans often have a detent to stop you going straight from fifth to reverse (my Bluebird certainly does).

    gears

Clutch down, select fourth to stop the gearbox, then select reverse. Works a treat on TVRs and Citroen BXs! (it was via TVRs that I picked up this trick - forums rather than ownership sadly!)

    point of viscous?

Is the fan roaring any other time Ryan and how cold is it running? Mine sits at one third on the gauge and the fan never roars apart from at start up. The actual reason for fitting a viscous unit is that it should save energy by not putting as much drag on the engine. It should also stop if it...

    new driving laws

Clearly something needs to be done. There are too many young drivers having accidents and as a result, insurance is horrifically expensive for young'uns. An entire year to learn how to drive though? How long is that going to take? More education about the results of driving like an idiot would...

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

That'll be why Rick. You can only direct link to a photo, not an album. So I can do this. But you can't see the rest of the album. (but I've picked a few more out. Here goes) Wannabe Maverick.

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

Nice vids! (just checked your signature). That scramble up the loose rocks was brilliant. Well done!

Works for me! Great shot. Thanks.

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

Indeed not. I've had water washing over the bonnet on several occasions and it's never missed a beat. I bet the new HT leads I fitted help there... There should be a cover over the coil, but there isn't at the moment. Doesn't seem to affect it. My old Landy V8 was hopeless though. A puddle...

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

How did the towbar cope with the bombhole? Sorry I couldn't make it for that lane.

Ah, you did take him on Strata then? Great pics Fez.

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

We did several lanes in that area. Most of the shots (towards the end) are of one I've done before, but only in the opposite direction. It's a lot more difficult going up rather than down! Great fun though.

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

No problem! This struggled not at all Great to meet Ryan, his dad and Mr Makeitfit. Thanks to Fez for organising this. I had a lot of fun and I think Ryan did too. They were heading off to tackle Strata this afternoon but I sadly had to dash off.

    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

makeitfit's Patrol beast. Looks great, sounds good, smells fantastic! This section was really tricky. I needed several goes. Not everyone did though... Flex like this was the problem, on slippy slate
