    help please

It's a grandparents job to wind the kids right up, just before sending them home. Blue food is good for that :) Tell them big porkies about how their parents will buy them a PS4 EACH. remember all the things that used to wind you up, and repeat :)

    Motorists warned over bad diesel

Well, I saw a document from a major car manufacturer that said that the FAME content (bio content) of diesel will be reduced this year to bring it in line with the rest of Europe, and that is expected to reduce the amount of problems with fuel filters blocking. Winter diesel has been supplied...

    help diagnosing this one!

I must change my driving style - I tend to try and keep it under 2k revs, as I don't like going to the petrol station :D Mine has got rattlier since I got it, and I suspect my driving is to blame :doh

    help diagnosing this one!

I'm the same - I do tend to labour it a bit, coming from a 2.5 5 cylinder Volvo, which would take 3rd at 20mph...... :D This heavy 3.0 lump won't do it, but 2nd seems too revvy....

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

Dash cluster out..... nothing to see here :nenau Although with the magnifying glass, the top left joint looked pitted. I'm assuming the connectors in question are the 4 around the circle. Out with the soldering iron and it looked a bit better, but no change when plugged back in...... :(...

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

So, testing the float - I have a full tank, so should have a very low resistance across the terminals of the sensor.Using my trusty multimeter, I get 7 ohms, which is correct. The sweep test on the combination meter (posh name for dash) shows that the needle is capable of a full sweep...

    Terrano reliability

I've had a lot of Landies, predominantly Defenders and Disco, and I can honestly say that the issues are the same. Both are rugged 4 wheel drives (albeit part time in the Terrano), and both suffer from rust. What you are getting from the Terrano is a more modern car, more comfort and warmth...

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

The gauge works, as I did the diagnostic test that sweeps the needles from empty to full and all was okay :)

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

cheers fella - next step is to have a look at the connectors where the rear harness joins the main harness on the passenger side behind the bumper. fingers crossed!

Fuel gauge not responding - I suspect a wiring fault :(

So, suddenly, the fuel gauge stopped responding. Then it started again :) But now its stopped again :( So, thanks to this forum, I read the manual - this goes against anything I have ever learnt :) Done the combination meter test, and the gauge sweeps empty to full nicely, so that rules out...

    Doors locking themselves ??

sounds like a broken wire - maybe in the trunking to the drivers door?

Massive clonk from the front of the t2

CV joints? My boots were split and I got this noise. New boots and filled with grease, and all quiet :)

Noise that stops with clutch pressed

So, given I have the same noise with clutch pedal up, and knowing its the layshaft, I've added extra oil, and some molyslip. The results? Intermittently quieter with the clutch up in neutral, generally quieter when driving (to be more specific, if I labour it slightly uphill, there is a lot...

    Toyota Aygo black

its low mileage, but then they tend to be all like that The water pumps leak - look for wet crustiness the clutch should be adjusted properly - there should be free play at the top of the pedal before any resistance is met. if the biting point is high, it needs a new one. Water leaks -...

    2.7 or 3.0?

I've got a 3.0, so biased. Downers? It doesn't run on veg oil (presumably cos of the pump?). Theres way more info and experience on here of the 2.7. Uppers? The bonnet has a bigger air scoop and looks better :) Ude the loud pedal, and the back end spins up and steps out. (this can also be a...

    Wheelspin !

the rears are grabberAT2 s. granted they are about 4 to 5 mm tread left, but it happily spins both rears in a straight line in 1st gear in the wet. rear diff oil just replaced with proper LSD oil. Maybe I need lighter shoes...... :thumb2

    Wheelspin !

Now the wet weather has arrived I'm wheelspinning more than I ever have in any vehicle ever! Slightest hill start and I have to be gentle on the throttle - I don't think my rear tyres are going to last long :) I'm missing the electronic 4wd selection on my old Surf - on for pulling away, then...
