    hi i`m new

Welome funky666 (is that funky satan?) You've only just posted and already you're getting the benefit of zippy's extensive knowledge! If you pay the tenner you'll save much more than that, simply on the manual download. Enjoy the 4x4 world it's fun and so is this forum! Rgds CL

    fixed hub woes?

Thanks for that great tip rayf, I just hope I can remember it when the one of the front wheels starts to spin in slippery 4x4 conditions. Lots of the white stuff here today enjoyed a 30 mile round trip in it, the T2 performed as expected - exceptionally well! Rds CL

    glow plug, engine shut off

In support of rayf3262's response, my wife's Renault Scenic has an auto-start button (no key to turn) that delays the engine cranking until the glow plugs have 'glowed'. So a relay that will not feed the starter circuit until the same has happened seems to be a good idea. Rgds CL.

    tyre wear

Hi Pablo How long a tyre should last, in my view, can only be dictated by the mileage covered and type of road/driving it's subject to. It is far more difficult to suggest a time average than a mileage average. Having said that I would expect at least 10000 miles from a tyre and probably more...

    Too good to be true!

"An interesting point, the scammers are creating a false low in the market. Maybe it's a capitalist caravan trader conspiracy to depress prices and buy up some bargains" PLANK - Good theory CL

    Too good to be true!

Spot the deliberate mistake! In this ad www.paruvendu.fr/a/caravaning-occasion/caravane/1162376810A1KVCACA000 the reply to my email enquiry included further photos that show that the window sticker to the right of the door displays the dealer price of this '04 Hobby 495 as 11950 Euros. The...

    Too good to be true!

Thanks for the replies guys. Bobhope you've gone that one step further and requested the obvious i.e. a meet with the seller and/or to view the item offered. Not surprisingly you received a fob-off. I've emailed numerous alleged sellers and have, so far, received eight replies which are...

    Too good to be true!

Hi Plank. Much the same technique here, the photos are clearly of 'vans in dealers websites or yards as there is no sign of personal gear in any of them. I was wondering how these scammers hope to extort the cash without handing over the goods, anyone know? CL

    Too good to be true!

Caravans offered at ridiculously low prices e.g. 2007 twin axle Hobby - 1500Euros! Here in France there are many adverts on a free site <http://www.paruvendu.fr/a/caravaning-occasion> for caravans at prices well below their market value. When contacted, the advertisers are always out of the...

    Is it me? . . .

Hi Plank and others. I think it may be the time of year - too bloody cold to be outside working on your truck, so those jobs that can be put off until the weather improves will be! That is certainly the case here, even the sunny south of France, currently minus four centigrade and projected...

Glow plugs for '03 three litre.

I believe it's just from sub zero start but I need to chat to Mountain Goat for detail. Rgds CL

Glow plugs for '03 three litre.

Thanks again guys. Did a GP change with Mountain Goat on his '05 3ltr a few weeks back and yes we found that his old ones were well burned away but he still doesn't get first time clean fire-up when the temp is below zero. I'm thinking maybe NGK, although more expensive, might be better than...

Glow plugs for '03 three litre.

Hi Ray and Apgphoto Thanks for the info. Did either of you notice any major difference with the new ones fitted?

Glow plugs for '03 three litre.

Research of previous threads suggest that choice of glow plugs make/suppliers is a bit of a lottery. Ebay offer four plugs for between sixty pounds and over two hundred pounds. Milners offer a set for under sixty pounds, make not specified. NGK have been recommended on a number of threads...

    2.7 0r 3.0??

Hi Venture There have been a couple of previous threads on this subject, you may wish to search for them to get more info. Having had both the 2.7 and now a 3ltr, in my experience, the latter wins hands down. It has greater power and is better on fuel. I'm given to understand that it is the...

Nissan terrano 3.0 tdi sve 5dr auto

Hi Glen I've had both (manual boxes) and I've found that the 3ltr is much more powerful and economical than the 2.7 without a doubt. I don't know about autos power/economy, however I do know that the towing weight capability of the auto is much less than that of the manual box. Rgds CL

diff oil change is it important

If you have the diff with the access plate bolted on the rear, capacity is one and a half litres. If the diff has the 'innards' accessed from a front bolt on plate I think it is nearer 3litres. Whatever grade you get make sure it is proper LSD (Limited Slip Differential) oil. Rgds CL

    Terrano 3.0

Hi Oldbrook Re the 2.7 versus the 3ltr - I've had both and apart from the common T2 gearbox problems, which I have experienced on both, in my opinion the 3ltr wins hands down. It has more power, greater flexibility and better economy. There have been posts here that suggest there can be issues...

Any 'Sparks' out there - advice please

Hi to all and thanks for all the good ideas. I've now got lots of options to cogitate on. Kitchenman I like your 'lateral thinking', I have a pair of walkie talkies but the battery life isn't worth diddly squat! Re the 12/24 volt options - the commercial kit I have cited has a 24 volt...
