    north peaks run in may

This sounds like fun. I've never done any real green-laning/off-roading, so would this be suitable for me? If I can avoid the more risky areas (my truck is also my only car ;)) put my name down please!

Do I have the right nuts?

Cheers buzz, I don't take it off-road very often. That picture was taken at a rifle range I was a member of, at a dis-used quarry. I would of loved to go on the south peak district outing yesterday, but spotted the thread very late - I hope you go again soon, I would love a nice simple intro...

Do I have the right nuts?

I tried to think of a more amusing thread title, but I'm not that sharp this time of night. I replaced my alloy wheels with some steel modular ones a while ago. I'm using the original nuts, but when I take a wheel off it's a challenge to re-seat it. I have to jiggle it to get the chamfer of the...

    Rear diff problems

He measured corner to corner and front to back. Also the gap in front of the rear tyre was different either side. I trust them, been going there for a while. They've always been fair.

    Rear diff problems

The axle wasn't loose, just not perpendicular - nothing else was loose, the bloke at the garage was a little perplexed. There wasn't much metal, but some is always worse than none. I'm planning on changing the diff oil again is 2 weeks or so, just to help flush out any other bit in there.

    south peak district lanning 15april

I've only just seen this thread, I would of loved to come but I have other plans :( I hope there is another one fairly close to me - this is only 60 miles from me and I'd love to start off with some easy off-roading, not done any yet. If anyone organises another close to Manchester, I'll look...

    Rear diff problems

So about 2 weeks ago the rear of my Terrano started making a 'whurring' noise - similar to a worn out wheel bearing noise - at speeds over 50mph. Last week when it was wet, I went around a corner and the back end stepped out and every right hand corner after that it felt like I was driving on...

Just changed my fuel filter and this came out...

Yeah, I've been running 50/50 veg oil for a couple of weeks now - that's part of the reason I wanted to change. It's already had a large dose of Marine16 and there is some more on the way, it's been running fine - I just wanted to show the 'orrid gunge that plopped out of the bottom of my filter

Just changed my fuel filter and this came out...

So, I've just changed my fuel filter (was easier than I thought it'd be) and the fuel that came out of the old filter looked like this; Looks yummy! Any ideas what it might be? My Terrano was running fine before I changed the filter - just thought it was time for a change. My dads fuel...

    Leaking clutch/gearbox

So I've decided it's the grearbox, not the clutch that's leaking - as the thing that's leaking has a drain/sump plug on it and clutches don't have those. Right? I'm booked into the garage Thursday, so I'm hoping it's just a gasket. Any idea how tough of a job it is, or how long it will take...

    Leaking clutch/gearbox

Bell housing, that sounds like the term I was looking for. I've just re-checked and there has not been any leakage in just over an hour, so it's a slow leak at least. I tried to take some pictures, but they didn't come out too well - It's kinda tricky to take a decent picture while crammed...

    Leaking clutch/gearbox

I've just found a minor leak (looks to be a couple of teaspoons at most) under my Terrano. I went underneath and its coming from what I think is the clutch/gearbox gasket - big circular thing behind the front diff. The joint is damp and the oil is a thick yellowish colour - definitely not fuel...

cooking oil & diesel will it kill fuel pump!

I started using veg oil a couple of weeks ago, first tank was about 70:30 diesel to oil and the second is 50:50. I'm doing this as I commute around 325 miles per week - so far I've used 50 litres of veg oil and I've saved £22.50 vs diesel. No problems so far for me, just that interesting smell...

    Finally did it...

Just been to Costco tonight, also joined as I'm now eligible as I work for the NHS. Bought 100 litres of oil, under 95p per litre - bloke on the checkout asked if I was running a car off it :D Since I filled up, I reckon I've done 290 miles (speedo/odo says 280, but I planned my trips on Google...

    Finally did it...

Got my first tub for just under £19, so it's under a £1 a litre, ASDA diesel is £1.40. Commuting well over 325 miles a week to and from work, it soon adds up. I'll be moving upto 50/50 once I get chance to go back to Costco.

    Finally did it...

I put 20 litres of Costco's finest KTC cooking oil in and filled the tank with ordinary diesel (about a 70:30 ratio if the SWB tank is 72 litres) It's been chilly here over the last few days, down to minus 4 and it started fine and runs great. Is it best to mix some of the oil with diesel...

    Temperature Gauge not working

Popped down to the shop today, about a mile or so and on the way home I noticed the gauge was working. Must've not been used to moving after a 5 month rest. Still not sure what that wire is for though

    Temperature Gauge not working

Also, while poking around under the bonnet looking for a 'press this to fix the temp. gauge' switch (didn't find it) I spotted this wire and connector coming from the alternator. It looks like it should be plugged into something, can't see where - just curious as to what it's off?

    Temperature Gauge not working

My Terrano (2000 TDi SWB) has been sat on the drive since September (lost my job, couldn't afford insurance, so SORN'd it) I have re-insured it today and took it out for a 6/7 mile spin, after charging the battery it started fine, however, the temp. gauge didn't move at all. The heater blew...

    Thermostat

When I was looking I found THIS ONE on eBay - People seemed to think £22 was a bit steep though. Also, does fitting an 88 degree thermostat help increase MPG?
