The wipers on my old 96 Terrano did this for ages until I got really fed up of them and adjusted the mechanism at the motor end just like Rick says and they worked perfectly ever after.

From what I know you can download the software for free from their website http://home.exetel.com.au/nds/NDSII/index.php?content=download. It's crippled until you pay but it's enough to check connectivity to the ECU etc.

I have a dead 2.6 W210 due to an oil seal failure on the gearbox plug that allowed fluid into the loom and filled up the gearbox ecu with transmission fluid. To say I'm disappointed is a massive understatement, lovely car killed by a 20p oil seal!
