    Roof platform

That's a bit overkill for me to be honest, I just want to get down to Gambia.

    Roof platform

That's probably true and I will usually not have that much weight on. But there will be some passages in Africa on my way to Gambia that I would like to carry some extra fuel. Don't want to brake the roof then. Will definitely drive with the weight in mind. Thanks for the advice!

    Roof platform

That is actually a good idea, thanks! I will look into that.

    Roof platform

This is how the holders will look like: It has a washer underneath.

    Roof platform

Will do so! Then another thing I started to think about, the further away from the main side columns the weaker the construction. So it might be a plague or cholera decision!

    Roof platform

Yes, but I will loose some width because of the angle against the side of the roof. Am afraid it will look funny? :nenau

    Roof platform

So I have taken off the inner roof and am about to bolt some holders for a roof platform. Shall I find a way to go trough the beams or shall I just bolt it trough the roof close to the beams? The platform will have a total of 6 fastening points with 2 M10 screws each (100x50mm foot) I want to...

    Factory dual battery setup?

Want to use it for extra lights, interior lights, rear work lights, stereo and maybe a fridge plus anything else that might come to my mind! Should not be a problem if I just put a good battery instead, few cars have parallel batteries up here, don't really see the point of it..

    Sweden - Gambia

Today I decided to do something constructive, mounting three 75w xenon extra lights! The ballasts are fairly big so it took me awhile to find the perfect spot. The bulbs will arrive next week so will mod three Bosch big knick reflectors and the night will become the day!

    Factory dual battery setup?

That's probably what I will do, it's for sure the most easiest way and I wont limit any boot space!

    Factory dual battery setup?

What do you guys think, now when I have this setup.. I want an Aux battery so shall I just put one in the back and keep this parallel setup in front? Or fit one stronger battery as start and convert the other one to an aux? I mean, batteries are heavy and dangerous so maybe less is more here...

    Factory dual battery setup?

Hmm.. Maybe I will just keep this setup and install a AUX battery in the back of the car, an AGM battery of some sort :naughty Just because it's so nicely done with the wiring and all.

    Factory dual battery setup?

They are parallel so 12v through out.

    Factory dual battery setup?

These batteries are not original, they are crap. Really the cheapest one can find... I'm sure it was stronger batteries fitted before. I will fit a 95A Bosch or Tudor battery as start and then use a VSR to convert the other one to an AUX. Paultrol, get a jump starter battery as Don Simon...

    Factory dual battery setup?

It's two 12v batteries connected in parallel. So same voltage, double the current.

    Factory dual battery setup?

I will sort pictures out in the evening! I think it might affect the "CCA" (cold crank amp). The colder it gets the battery will loose power. It has happened to me so many times with my former car that when it's below -20C and the car has been left standing for a night without the heater on I...

    Factory dual battery setup?

When I bought the car it came with the dual battery mod, at least that's what I thought! I started to notice something was wrong when all the wiring looked so professional and took it to a friend of mine who is a space electric PhD student and knows his way around vehicles as well and he...

    Aurora borealis calling

Just to make things clear, he will not need studded tires unless he don't have good M + S tires already. Bring snow chains and keep your speed. If you don't have good M + S, invest in some but don't go and buy studded tires just for this trip. I live in Kiruna, we have snow here most time of the...
